New: Good provine to live in

Moved to a thread on it's own as nothing to do with CRNE.

All depends what you want out of life in Canada. Each province will have their own good and bad points but would help us to know what you want out of it. Also each province will have their own requirements for foreign trained nurses and you will have to sit the CRNE if wanting to work as a RN. The exam is also only sat 3 times a year and the process can take a few months to go through.

I would say do some traveling whilst you are staying with relatives and get the feel of places.

I'm sure you'd find the climate on Vancouver Island to be more to your liking than most other provinces. But the cost of living anywhere on the Island is high. Victoria is a retirement mecca so there are a lot of elderly people there. And it's the last bastion of the old British Empire in a lot of ways. Port Alberni is a nice community; I have family there. Nanaimo is a bit snowier than Victoria or Port Alberni, but still a beautiful small city. My godfather lives there. BC is a bit of an anomaly in Canada; they do some strange things there government-wise. Their health care system is in a bit of a crisis situation with profound staffing shortages. Every province as its good points and its bad points. So much depends on what you're looking for and what you're willing to do to get it. Like silverdragon102 says, you'll have to spend some time in Port Alberni, do some driving around, read the paper and decide what will work for you.
