Do Canadian Registered Nurses have to take and pass the NCLEX-RN Exam to get their license to practice?

Depends on what state you wish to work in. I think there are 9 states that do not require the NCLEX of Canadian nurses (North carolina and texas... I don't have a full list). If you want to work in the other states you need to write the NCLEX. This can be done by registering with the Minnesota board of nursing. They will send applicants all the necessary paperwork to register with them and the company that administers the NCLEX. You would then have to go to the US to write it.

If you wrote the Canadian exam back in the 60s when it was the same as the American one you would probably be exempt from having to take the NCLEX now.
