As far as I can tell it's a multiplier. Meaning multiply 40 hrs a week (or whatever your facility considers full-time hours), by the decimal number. Example: A .6 position is a 24 hr a week job, 40 x 0.6=24 A .8 position is 32 hours a week, 40x0.8=32

Its for a part time position with set hours. It's equivalent to a .6 of a full time equivalent (FTE).

The number and days worked depends on the schedule rotation. Units have four, eight, twelve week rotations and the length of shifts depends on the unit. Some units work 7.75 hours, 4.0 hours and ll.25 hour shifts.

The interviewer will be able to show you the rotation "line" that you have applied for.

I once had a .4FTE over a ten week rotation that had weeks where there were no scheduled shifts and I would be able to pick up "casual" hours on that week. Other weeks had anywhere from two to four shifts.

So you really need to ask to see the rotation and see if it works for you or if you can make it work.

Hope that helps.
