I just Need the fist step....

I am also Canadian but I relocated to the US to go to school. It is pretty easy to get authorized to write the exam if you go to the school in the US but not sure how it works when you are educated in Canada. I got a lot of great NCLEX books but I found the best way to prepare is to just do a lot of practice questions. I did about 1800 practice questions over about 3-4 weeks right after graduation. I think it is easier when you are still in the test taking mode. There are some great review courses out there that can help you brush up on a basic review. There are some where you can buy 3 weeks or whatever you need that are quite affordable. Check out the NCSBN website and you can find some products there. I highly recommend the Kaplan series that talks a lot about test taking strategies as well as has some practice tests that are very good. I also used a program written by Mosby that is a CAT style where it gives you probability of passing the NCLEX. Another good source is ATI and a lot of nursing schools use it now as a predictability of passing NCLEX. That is a start anyway. By the way I passed my NCLEX with 77 questions on my first try. It is possible!!!!
