Double tax system for RN in USA

by zuzi Premium Member

Like always I try in my way to help!

What is about... if one of the canadian nurses will come to work in USA you need to know...where you need to pay the taxes!

By canadian tax system you will pay the taxes per your USA income in Canada ....ONLY if you will lived in Canada more than 183 days per year and if you have ties in Canada.

Is all about were is your residency status and your ties! Are couple of forms that need to be filled.

Basically true but you need to be VERY clear to the Canadian government where you deem to claim to have your residency. Not just a cut and dry number of months of where you have lived. We paid an accountant when we were back in forth between the countries and it is complicated and very important that the taxes are done properly for both countries in order not to have problems in the future.
