Does BC require BSN to register as RN?

BScN, BSN, BN... they're all the same. But yes, you require a baccalaureate degree in nursing.

I applied in BC in 2006 and at that time they were still treating it as a case by case basis. BC stopped having diploma programs since January 2003. So any new grads will all have their BSN. My education was evaluated and I had to state why I thought I should be granted the right to take the CRNE. My education was evaluated as roughly equivalent even though I only had ADN education in the US. But this was back in 2006. Not sure if it has changed since then. But I am still working in the US and haven't had the opportunity to take the exam since it is only offered 3 times a year and all during the school year which makes it difficult since I have children in school. I am now working on my BSN and 2/3 done so down the road it won't really make a difference to me. But you may want to check with the regulatory body in BC to find out for sure. I am an RN in BC and as far as I know you only need to prove your graduate RN status to become registered. The universities now provide a BSN for graduation.
