CRNE feb 2009

by ol221

Hi, I am just writing to wish you all luck. I could hardly forget the time I took the exam and my aftermath feeling. It was almost last year but now that much stress and hard work paid off. Wish you all Feb exam taker Luck. Just try to relax and wait for the result.

It is hard to relax but no other choice it is done you can not change it but atleast you can enjoy your time which you could never return it back. I looked like my mom with this much saying...........

Oh the questions were tricky! Always there are 2 answers that you have to choose from that you know are right.. but you simply have to choose which is the best! HUhuhu.. I hope I passed it.. Anybody knows the passing rate for CRNE and how is the scoring by the way? Do they give points to 2nd best answers?

I did the readiness test and they said in the past exams the passing rate has been any where between 58% ti 69%. now that I recall some questions that I still dont know what the ans was after ruling out 2 best ones, I am scared! :s I really need to pass! The questions were not straight forward. very very tricky.

Last couple of exams has been 146-151 (there's roughly 145 & 144 questions over the 2 papers, of which 30 are not counted, as they are test questions) if you do the math - that's just a little over 50%!!! Suspect the info on the CNA web may change in a few years!! If they ever admit it!

I totally hear you on what the questions were like - I felt the same way - but I did pass - so take heart!!

I don't understand why there is a waiting period of 6 weeks?!?! I mean...its only scan tron sheets. how long does it take to put them in to machines and send out the results. I mean university profs sometimes have only less than a week to send out the results ( even with short answers exams, sometimes). CNO don't bell curve it..do they?

No, they don't give marks for answers that are partly correct on the multiple choice questions. There is only one correct answer. For the short answer questions part marks are sometimes given, but there won't be any short-answer questions on the exams in 2009.

All the exams are sent to Ottawa for processing. The provinces don't mark them. There are testing sites that are some distance from the provincial College offices, and all exams must be received by the College before they can be sent to Ottawa. Then the exam papers are scanned, the results printed out and collated by province. The Canadian Nurses' Association handles all of this; they then send out the results to the provinces, which break them down by individual results and send out notification. It takes time.
