CRNE 7th october

by DEMS

Hello,

I'm new to this site but am finding it really useful! I'm canadian but did my nursing degree in the UK, and I currently practicing in England. I'm due to sit the CRNE on the 7th October and have read some scary posts on its level of difficulty. I have the study guides and will continue to study for the next 8 weeks until I fly over to toronto to sit it. I'm extremely nervous....anybody got any further pointers for me????

I can't wait for my family to start our life in Canada pending me passing this exam (so no pressure Eh!)......and a new job in toronto would be great!!!!!

Good luck to all of those that are sitting it the same day as me!

Hi RNA/dawn
you may want to search allnurses site for CRNE threads, tips on writing the exam has been discussed a fair amount in the past. Good luck with the exam and getting a job in Toronto.

Definetely get the CNA guide!!!! Lippincott is good for review general knowledge, but not even close to the real thing. Get the code of ethics as well!

Hi, thank you for the inside, I have the Lippincott, Mosby (review guide since I gave most of my school notes to my friends) and I'm planning on buying the CNA guide this week Is there a way of getting the code of ethics online? I'm printing the CNO compendium of standards too.
BTW, any idea as to when the cards will be mailed? I haven't received mine yet.

The code of ethics can be downloaded from the Canadian Nurses Association website.
Best wishes on the exam

Hi all. I finally got the the letter of eligibility to write the CRNE from the CNO 2 wks ago. Fortunately, they extended the deadline for application til 27th Aug for the Ocotber exam. I am still waiting for the confirmation if I am able to write it this October. I just finished the CRNE PREP guide book. I only got 59-60% including the short answers. I know the exam is solely multiple choice but I still answered that part anyways. Is 59-60% good or bad for a start? How about you guys? What's your score like?

I took the CGFNS in 2001 while I was still in the Philippines and I find the CRNE practice test really different. It's a good thing I found this website as I found some good advices on what to read. I printed the Code of Ethics and the Compendium of Standards today. I only got to page 10 and my eyes are already feeling tired. LOL.

I have another question, do you think it will help a lot if I buy Mosby's or Lippincott book? Which is better among the two? I'd probably try the CRNE readiness test in September.

Less than 8wks to go. I am getting very nervous. Good luck to everyone!

59-60% is good for a start, but probably not enough to pass. If you could pull that up to 65% or more you'd likely be safe.

Either the Mosby or the Lippincott will offer different practice questions. Pay close attention to the rationale given for why the correct answers are correct. If you can understand the thought processes used to develop the questions, it makes it a lot easier to choose the answer they want.

I didn't know about them extending the deadline, could that be because they have less applicants than usual I hope so because that could mean a little less time to process the exam results.
When I got my letter in March, it was already too late to apply for the June exam, because a lot of new graduates take the exam then. I find October so depressing though.
I have both Mosby (the review textbook, which is not too bad) and the Lippincott, which is only questions and rationales. Will review the books depending on my exam results, lol.
BTW, any idea as to when the exam cards will be mailed just to have a look and put some mental chemistry into it

Thanks janfrn! Yeah, I did read all the rationales and tried to understand why that choice is right or wrong. I also have to pay attention to the clues given in the question. Words like "initial response, best response of the nurse, first response, what is the priority response/intervention, and stuff like that". I get wrong answers if I don't pay attention to these.

Hey petgroomer, I don't know why they extended the deadline. I have been waiting for a decision for 10 long months now because of insufficient documents. I'm so happy they extended it 'cos if not, that means I have to wait even longer.
