Hi, I am not sure about alot of the private schools. They are really expensive and not really established. Sprott-Shaw has a good reputation. I had an excellent student from them. Our facility does not hire Stenberg care aides, so I am doubtful they'd hire LPN's. They also don't want Open Learning Agency. VCC has the best track record, but apparently a two year wait list.

Default LPN Private Schools
There are a few ways to go about getting info on the LPN program. Go to the CLPN website (google for it) and there it will tell you what schools it has approved and authorized for teaching the LPN curriculum. Also, don't disqualify thinking about going to a private school for your LPN. If you have the time/money or the ability to get a student loan it is worth it. Being on a wait-list at a public college can really put a damper on your progress. Good luck in your search for knowledge.

Default Not Hiring Stenberg RCA's?
I am curious to know why your facility doesn't hire RCA's from Stenberg? Is it that you have had students (on practicum) that did not meet the level of care/knowledge that your facility expects from them? I know that a lot of LTC facilities will not hire RCA's that have attended "any" private school. I for one, did attend Stenberg as an RCA, and am going to Stenberg for my LPN. I have also found that my education from Stenberg has not hindered me in any way at finding a job as an Aide. I am confident that when I finish all my clinical placements, and pass my LPN licensure that there will be work available out there for me.

I am a recent LPN graduate from Stenberg College, we just recently graduated on January 28th, 2005, and already a number of people from my class are getting jobs and interviews. Stenberg gave me a wonderful education, and I am 100% confident in my ability to be a nurse. I encourage anyone who wants a wonderful educational experience to go a head and go into a private school, yes it is a bit more expensive but it is totally worth the experience and eduation you recieve. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

Default Stenberg College
HI there! I am going to start the LPN program with Stenberg end of Feb, and am wondering how were your clinical placements in the program? Where did you take your clinicals, and your preceptorship? I know that we have been told that they can occur all over the Lower Mainland and further up into the Province if you want to do out-post nursing, but what was your own personal experience like? I would just like some insight if you don't mind answering those few questions for me. Thanks!

Hi,
Don't worry at all about your clinicals they are totally awsome. I'm not sure how yours will be organized, but we had people go all over BC and Vancouver. For my experience i went to Maple Ridge, Langley, Vancouver, and For my Preceptorship I went to Grand Forks BC. It was a great experience going out of town and I totally recomend it to anyone. I got to work in ER and got to see and do a lot of really awsome things You'll love Stenberg and all the teachers and staff there...I wish you lots of luck
