Canada: How to maximize staff in a health center

Hi, I am a degree nurse in Saskatchewan. I was previously an LPN for 10 years. I have worked several areas such as General surgery, Orthopedics, Resp Medicine, Plastics, Urology, etc. I am now in a northern health center that is having difficulty functioning because of a shortage of nurses and doctors. Any suggestions as to how this place could be run as a 24 walk in medi clinic utilizing us nurses as much as possible? It would be great if we could help revive the system some how.

You might want to change the title of the post. My first thought was I don't want to know about someone's first code blue.... Sorry.

I worked in an inner city clinic that utilized everyone to their full scope of pratice. LPN's did walk in wound care, staple/suture removal, vaccinations, routine birth control injections, flu clinic in the fall. NP's did the bulk of the pre and ante natal follow up care and prescribed where they could.

I seem to remember havin four docs, two NP's and three LPNs plus a fileclerk.

It might not be what your looking for but it worked in my area.

Maybe you can provide a few more details, like what your goals are, what staff you have available, the size of the facility and the population of the area. I live in SK and me and the DW are always exploring our options (we're not happy in the "big city"). We have worked in facilities starting at 10 beds and up, so we might be able to help somehow.
