Acceptance to Ontario BScN program??

Hi!

I've applied to Humber, Seneca, Georgian, Centennial and Mohawk for Nursing this September.

I've been out of high school for 10 years, so I am currently taking a Pre-Health course at Durham College.

Does anyone know if this will be enough to get me in? My high school marks are not that stellar. But my average last semester at Durham was 87%. Will the colleges not look at my high school marks because of my college marks?

Thanks!

Jess

I am in the exact same position as you! I have also been out of school for 10 yrs and am currently taking the courses requiered to apply as a mature student in the fall of 09. My highschool marks were ok (low 80's) except for grade 12 math which I bombed (54) I am sooooo stressed about that mark. I hope they dont put too much weight on highschool marks. I was told that in order to apply as a mature student all you needed to take was bio 1 and 2 and chem 1 and 2 and have a minimum of 70% in all 4 courses. In bio 1 and chem 1 I ended up with low 90's and hope to do the same in bio 2 and chem 2. My fingers are crossed for you!!!

I applied as a mature student years ago. I wasn't accepted despite my marks meeting the entrance requirements. Turns out that here in Alberta, it's not a guarantee of admission. They look at everyone's marks and go from there. At that time they were asking for a minimun of 65% for mature students but only accepted those with marks in the 80%s.

Life experience doesn't really seem to matter.

Good luck to both of you.

I took pre-health last year at Georgian right after high-school and ended up with an 87 average both semesters as well. Now I'm currently in the BScN program at Georgian and they accept students who take pre-health with an average of 74. So I don't believe you will have any problem. I also got into Seneca with those pre-health marks aswell..but I never heard back from Mohawk, nothing not even a decline or acceptance.

I've heard the programs at Seneca and Georgian are fairly different. Georgian is extremley caring centered, which is nice. But you end up at York in the end for both! haha

Good luck!
