U of Calgary Degree Holder Winter 2015

Hello,

This is for anyone who has applied to the Degree Holder Route at U of C. I just wanted to let people know that if they have transcripts that still haven't been ordered from an Alberta Institution (through ApplyAlberta), give the admissions office a call (403-210-7625) and have them request it to be sent.

I was checking myuc everyday waiting to see if my transcript from Athabasca had been ordered and it still hadn't. I called admissions and the man told me he had to put a request for it to be ordered from Athabasca.... good thing I called or else they might not have ordered it in time for the Sept 30 deadline!

That's the possibility I considered...

Congrats to those who are in so far! My application status is still just a green circle that says Complete. I have nothing that says awaiting faculty decision either.

Hi fingers_crossed,

I'm pretty sure it's just a "typo" by the system lol. I think most of us haven't got an offer yet, because the faculty admission officer is still out of town. She should be back this weekend.

Still haven't received a decision, but I got to Calgary yesterday and went on a tour of campus today!

How far is the nursing department away from the skytrain station?

I did my undergrad at U of C too, so I know it pretty well. There is a c-train stop at the University, so depending on which building your class is in it's a 5-20min walk from there. I just enrolled in the Jan courses so I know that one class is 15-20 min walk :grumpy: and the other two are like 5-10mins. The nursing building itself is pretty close to the train, but our lectures are not in that building for some reason.

I think what quartz said is pretty accurate! The nursing building is under construction so I didn't really do a proper visit of it, but the tour guide I had was a nursing student and she said that most of her classes were in the ICT building? Which is a bit further from the ctrain stop I think. It seems like a very large campus.

Walk 20 min in Calgary's winter...I need to order some extra feet from ebay:coldfeet:

Btw Quartz, how many lecture and workshop hours per week do we have for the first term?

Yes one of the morning lectures is in ICT which is one of the further buildings..although I like ICT because it's newer and there is a Good Earth . At least we aren't in Kines because that is at the total opposite end, but you do have to walk there to use the gym. Luckily U of C is built so you can access all the buildings without going outside! Sometimes this takes longer, but you can easily run from the train station to the first building then comfortably walk inside.

Lectures are Tues, Wed, Fri 8-11am. The clinicals are 19hrs per week, but no info on when they will be.

Thanks quartz, that's very informative. Looks like our first term is pretty laid back, providing enough time to settle down and adapt to the new environment.

Every morning I wake up and check, hoping to see a green check mark by my status. My heart is starting to feel real heavy.
