Taking nursing in French even though I'm English

Just wondering if anyone in Montreal has taken the nursing program in French even though English is your mother tongue? I am pretty much bilingual but have not done any studying in French since elementary school. I am worried that it may be too difficult but it was my only option to get into nursing for this coming fall semester. All the English programs were full. I figure that since I live in Quebec it could only benefit me by doing my schooling in French.....if I can make it through it! It has been so long since I have written in French except to send notes to school for my kids when they are sick :). I am also a little worried about being nearly 38 years old and heading back to school! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

If you're nervous about feeling overwhelmed with the difference in language what i would personally recommend is to look over the courses you'll be taking and see if there are any you can take in advance over the summer to lighten your workload for the fall. I'm starting RPN in September and this is what i've been doing myself and i truly feel this was the best choice i could have made. I'll have four classes completed and out of the way before i even start my first semester. I'm able to concentrate on these classes now while i take them and get better grades and then in the fall i'll have a lighter workload and be able to focus more on the classes i have at that point in time. It will help my overall GPA as well since my focus isn't stretched so thin over so many classes.

You could maybe take the classes in advance in English so you can make sure to get better grades in them, or take them in french to help "ease" yourself into that setting.

If that's not an option, then perhaps take a refresher class in French over the summer. At the very least it'll will give you more confidence going into the French program in the fall.

Good Luck! :)
