RPN-RN bridging 2014

Hi,

I'm currently completing a RPN diploma. I will be done in April, 2015 and be writing my CNO's in June 2015. My question is for anyone that has already bridged from an RPN program. Will i be able to apply to the bridging programs although i haven't written my licensing exam as of the application deadline of Feb1st. I plan to receive my licence before I would start in the bridge program, but would they send me a conditional offer? ALSO can someone explain the procedure with OUIT's bridging program? When are the bridging courses taken and am i guaranteed a seat in the 3rd year of the program or do I need to re apply after finishing those courses? How long does the program generally take from start to finish?

I am in a RPN program too and would also like to know information about bridging from RPN to RN.

But for your question about the application process, I am pretty sure you have to have one year working experience or some number of working hours as a RPN before you can apply for the bridging program.

You don't need any amount of working experience to enter into the bridging program (at least for McMaster's program...which is what I applied to).

Essentially you have to have your application in by Feb 1...but you email or fax them a copy of either 1. the letter from the CNO saying that you passed your exam or 2. your payment card to the CNO for your general license by Feb 25

This is all for 2014 and for Mohawk-McMaster....I'm not sure about next year or for other schools. You'd have to call their admissions advisor to find out for sure.

Athabasca requires around a years experience to be accepted.

Thanks for the info, the Mohawk-Mcmaster bridge is the one I am hoping to get into, so when you bridge in, what year in the BscN program do you start at and how many years is it until you graduate?

I know that at least some RPN-RN bridging programs don't require any work experience first but personally I think that's a bad idea.

Maybe, but I just got a job and will be working full time from now til sept on a surgical unit and then part time or casual while in school. That is work experience. Although I'm not even sure I want to bridge so I may not even go...who knows.

I completed my bridging via Centennial College and some of my classmates at the time were new grads and have not yet been licensed yet with CNO and they were required to pass the CPNRE and register with CNO by the time they apply for Ryerson since we were required to submit copies of our CNO registrations.

You'll do fine.No bridging program will be substantially harder than another.

What year do you bridge into in the BscN program in the Mohawk-Mcmaster and how many years are left. Also anyone in that program right now, what GPA did you have to get into it.
