Official 2012 Fall RN admission frustration page

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

So I figured I should start this page as many of us who are applying to nursing program for Fall 2012 are going to get really anxious soon. I personally am applying to Second entry nursing programs all around GTA and anxiously waiting to hear back from them.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and experiences as you wait for that mighty acceptance letter.

Hmmm, I was hoping it would be considered similarly to a highschool student who was still in school. They would not have final marks either. Regardless, I am working on finishing up. My current "mid-term" marks are 92% and 93% for Bio & Chem respectively. I'm hoping for at least a conditional offer similar to what I remember receiving as a high school student. I guess I struggle to understand why they would offer to high school students before mature students?? I don't see how that makes a difference. What if the mature student has a better overall "picture" when it comes to the significant grades? Conversely, how would high school students feel if mature students were offered acceptances while they wait. I figured it would be concurrent since RN programs typically offer a pretty good mix of both high school direct and mature students. Well, I'll keep my fingers crossed but I won't spend the tuition money before the start of the semester since an acceptance can come right up until then.

I'm not sure why highschool students get offers first either, a bit frustrating. Your marks are very good, definetly competitive! I know that as a pre health student, since I did not take bio or chem in highschool, I had to take bio and chem both semesters (Bio 1 & 2 and Chem 1 & 2) since 2 college credits equal to 1 uni credit. And that for PN programs they will take my last semesters or this semesters mid term marks but UOIT will average out both. Did you apply to PN or BScN? I would call the colleges or uni's you've applied to and ask them how they determine their acceptances just so you know exactly what you have to do or a deadline to have those courses completed! Good luck and congrats on the awesome grades!

I applied for BScN - I'm really hoping to get into Humber. How about yourself?

Ugh, marks notwithstanding, I hate Chem. Love Bio, hate Chem (with a passion!) I'm only getting through it with a tutor.

Well, I'm actually in Florida at the moment on vacation but I'll be home on Friday and I think I'll bbe on the phone to Humber then to find out what their methodology is.

Best of luck!

I applied to UOIT. It is nerve racking knowing even with good marks, its never a guarentee. I like Chem for the most part really, and Bio is so interesting. I can't stand Eng tho lol

Good luck!

Awwh good luck guys! I know it's nerve wrecking. I am glad I started this thread so we can all share our experiences and learn something from them.

So anyone applying to second entry programs in GTA? I am in my last semester of my degree and waiting to graduate this summer. I am really scared because if I don't get into nursing or other graduate programs that I applied to, that would mean me finding a full time job and start paying OSAP loans. GAAH

Wish me luck! Hopefully our positiveness and good wishes would rub-off on some of us.

AGH! So I got an email this morning saying I got into Centennial!........ too bad it was for the ECE program I applied for there in like September! So now I'm going to be faking myself out all month about those, because almost everywhere I applied has 2 different programs I "applied" to.

Ontariocolleges is a WEIRD system. I applied for ECE programs, got my letters back, applied for nursing instead by changing choices, and now all my letters from schools say I've applied to both. I have an acceptance from Humber for ECE too, and I'm not even applying there for nursing. So I got like... 10 apps for the price of five XD

Either way, here's hoping guys! I'm a mature student so I don't expect to hear back soon, but if they're already emailing for ECE, the rest have to be coming down the pipes!

Acceptances are coming out!! OCAS hasn't updated yet, but Humber's SRS is showing my acceptance!!!!!!! (There aren't any smiley faces that quite match the joy right now) :yelclap::w00t:

I have to wait until I can check my email at work tomorrow to see if it's a conditional or full offer. But this means I'm going to be a :nurse:!

Check your individual schools of choice just in case OCAS isn't updated for you yet. Congratulations to everyone who's in and best of luck for those who don't yet know for sure.

Thats awesome!!! Congratulations!! I would be so excited as well, thats got to be such an amazing and relieving feeling :-)

I've checked already today, uhmm 3 times lol so obsessed. Nothing yet but it's still the 1st so we'll see!

Thanks SM1031! I'm thrilled. I confirmed the acceptance as soon as it showed up on OCAS. Now I have to wait for the actual package in the mail.

Have you heard from anywhere yet?

;__; I swear, getting into university the first time wasn't this stressful. I really don't want to do the prenursing program, I've taken the equivalent courses in university and highschool! What a waste of time if I have to...

Got my letter from Loyalist today and I've been accepted into the 4yr collaborative Nursing Program, however I did not get into the Practical Nursing program... which was supposed to be my fall back. I found that weird.

I have not heard back from UOIT, Queen's, or Durham College yet.

I'm also taking a Biology upgrade but that class wont be complete until summer. From what I've heard, the schools should consider the upgraded mark once I've completed it.

Congratulations Kleobee!! Yeah we won't hear back from UOIT until mid april I think.
