BCIT Nursing January 2015 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

I decided to start this thread for all the other eager nursing applicants just like myself! I am going back to Capilano University to take some Biology courses (Bio 112&Bio 113), Psychology (Psych 100 & 101), English 100, Sociology 100, and Philosophy 101. This is based on BCIT's new requirement for the 2014 intake! In addition to that, I have also been working for Vancouver Coastal Health as a Health Care Assistant for about 2-3 years now. I am looking at about 45-50 post secondary credits after I finish all the courses at Cap! I might take Libs 7001 on May 2014, then apply for the January 2015 intake!! Anyone else interested in BCIt Nursing program January 2015 intake?

Hey everyone,

Was just wondering if anyone had an idea as to what the competitive average is likely sitting at for this year or last year's. I've already completed my BSc, so there's not any time to change marks, but more so for curiosity's sake. I had heard somewhere it was sitting around 79-82%, but I'm not sure if that's referring to the high school marks, the post-secondary courses, or both.

This thread is quite quiet this intake! The application deadline is looming up on us.

I just handed in my application. Phew. One thing off my chest now that that's done.

Let the waiting begin~

Does anyone know about the admission process after submitting the application? I am not sure of this but by reading the previous entry thread, it seems like there are round 1 and round 2??

After the application deadline, the selection committee will review all the applicants and then select a bunch to be shortlisted. Those who are shortlisted will have to fill out another form online by a deadline and the final applicants will be selected from the shortlist group.

Hey jmcl, I have applied before and the additional form was definitely longer and now I only see the experience and coursework options as well. Did you ever find out if that is correct?

thanks chiseen. good luck with your application! I am still working on it, will be submitting once I get a grade on one of the course that I am taking at TRU but not sure if it gets available by the deadline. did they give you the date to submit the questionnaire for you?

Hey jmcl and lauray,

I noticed this too... They got rid of things like "reasons for selecting this program" and "personal strengths" sections. Also got rid of things like extracurriculars and hobbies... This definitely gave me a slight panic attack but I guess that's how it is now. Less for them to read for all the applications?

:/

Thanks, you too!

If you aren't sure whether your final grades will make it in time, fill out the midterm grades form and ask your TRU instructor to sign it and just send in the final grades when you get them. That way you won't have to worry about making the Oct 1st deadline.

For the shortlist questionnaire in the last intake, it was done online and it was only open for about a one week window. And once you open it, you only had a set time to finish it so you can't work on it throughout the week and save and go back to it.

Thanks for letting me know! I thought I won't get to even submit my application if I don't get the grade because it is one of the Academic Foundations course. It says on the website they don't accept midterm grade for Academic Foundations course. Do you know if I can use the form for academic foundation course? It is quite frustrating because I cannot do anything other than wait for the final grade ugh =(

For the last intake. We could send in our midterm grades with the app and then later on just send them the final grades within a second deadline they give you for it. You could email or call admissions to be sure.

New to this forum! I applied for this intake at BCIT and was wondering when you find out you're accepted?

Im pretty sure not till the end of November! Its really late... I just applied as well ^_^ I will have completed my Bachelors as of December 8th!!!
