Hey everyone!! How was everyones applications?? I applied with 29 credits with all the pre recs done including libs 7001 and 7002. On my application I put 3 reference letters ( 1 from burnaby hospital, 1 from care home, and 1 from my job) I have 85 hours at burnaby hospital and more then 350 hours at the care home for volunteering... Im 20 and pretty young and I don't know if those strengthen my application as opposed to people who apply with degrees. I also scanned a certificate from the burnaby MLA that acknowledged my volunteering in 2014 as well as proof of my CPR HCP certification. My Gpa at BCIT is 81% and VCC is a 3.33 ( i don't know the percentage) do you guys think those are all okay....? So nervous here....

Hey! I also applied and am super nervous.

It sounds like your application is really strong! That's a lot of volunteer work!. I only have 40hours at a care home. Plus some customer service work experience. I have a bachelors degree with a GPA of ~4.0 After submitting my application I'm trying to add a reference from my employment because I wasn't even thinking that I would need it but after seeing your post it couldn't hurt. I don't have both the libs done but I think I might be able to get transfer credit from one of them at Douglas college.

It's all so nerve wracking... I hate the wait.

Hey! Everything about your application sounds SUPER strong they will be very impressed with your degree and amazing GPA! I had no idea wether to put reference letters or not but because of my not too many credits i needed to strengthen my application as much as possible, the reference letter will only help you swell! The 40 hours are great swell especially because its at a care home. I wish you all the best and I really hope you get in! This long wait has just been absolutely brutal.....

Hi guys,

why is it so silent over there?

I have applied to the program too. I`ve submitted my bachelor with 4.0 gpa along with additional 26 credits from Douglass(including prereq) with 4.0 gpa. I have done 75 h of volunteering with Fraser Health.

On top of that I`m currently doing LIBs 7001/7002 in BCIT and inorganic chem in Douglas.

Have anybody heard already from the Department? Any clues about the number of applicants? When I asked

the admission Committee before the deadline - the didn`t know yet the total number.

Hey! I know right all the BCIT jan 2017 threads are solo dead... which is weird because for previous intakes theres a lot of people on it. Everything you have Darista is beyond impressive, i think you will get in for sure! I emailed the department today and they said if we don't make it to step 2 the cognitive questionnaire then they will email us at the end of this month and let us know. If we do make it to the next step they should email us before that or around the same time i think... After that you find out if you got in the program at the end of October. I really wonder how many applicants there are as well... I want to get in more then anything.

After looking at last years posts it looks like people found out if the got through round one on the last day of sept and if they were accepted on the last day of October but I'm sure it's not the same each year

maybe it's quiet because not many people applied ... That's wishful thinking I'm sure lol

Yeah we should find out if we made it to the next step end of september or early october for sure... Super nerve racking. I wish you good luck though! :) I wish everyone who applied who wants to do nursing for the right reasons got in.. in a perfect world maybe

Hey Darista!

Your application sounds amazing!

Do you have a full bachelors degree? Just out of curiosity, what was it in? I did mine in music (Voice- performance) so it's not particularly relevant but I did a wide variety of academic electives and always did better in them than I did in my music classes lol.

Also, Did you guys apply any where else or just at BCIT?
