BCIT Jan 2013 Applicants

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Just wanted to get something started as I will be applying for this intake. Let's get this thread going. Fill me in on who you are and why you are applying bcit's nursing program.

I was told that BCIT is the most recognized institution of all nursing schools in BC. There clinical hours which I like and it's a 3 year program. It is also the most competitive, therefore the brightest, smartest, and well rounded individuals will be there. I want to be associated with a competitive environment, makes me work harder and we can learn from each other.

I am currently at kwantlen completing my pre reqs. I have completed my 1st year english and 1st year psych. I will be taking libs 7001 and 7002, 200 level psych course and 2 other bio courses.

Well I just deferred to August so I hope those of you on the hold list will get a call!!!

I forgot to mention that they willl keep in touch with those on the holdlist until the first week of January before the start of the program. So keep your phones nearby until jan everyone!

Nov 8th is tomorrow lol, thats really soon

So I am going to be keeping my phone glued to my side until January... What if I don't answer the phone call because I'm in class or showering or in an exam!? They will try more than once right? Or leave a message and give me a day to get back to them?

What?! They will keep calling until the start of the program? So if I have decided to wait until a spot opens up for January and not deferred it now, do I need to call admission?

I would hope they would leave a message. I'm not around my phone all the time. I just wish I knew what number I was... so I can go back to the drawing board and figure out what I'm going to do with my life until August if I'm later on the list!

Good luck you guys! And for those that defer or will be in the August I take, I can't wait to meet you all!!!

Given how much needs to be done before you start clinical, it doesn't make sense that we could hear up until the 1st week of Jan. CPR, criminal record check, fit testing, etc. all need to be done before classes begin. Not only that the deadline to apply for the August intake is December 15th. I don't know about you guys but I want to reapply but not lose my spot on the hold list either.

I would THINK they would know who is accepting their offers by this week and then start moving on to the hold list. I don't know....thoughts?

Hey guys,

Someone told me their cousin finished the BCIT nursing program in 2 years (or something like that) because she held a previous bachelor's degree and "challenged" the courses. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I am guessing they would give you extra time to complete such documents? Perhaps email the bcit email that they told us to email if we had any questions once we were shortlisted and ask if you reapply for August do you give up your spot on the waitlist? Or do you know this is true already?

I super hope I get that phone call.. I still wonder how many people are in the "top of the hold list"... I think there was three at least on here, then vana deferred until August. Anyone else been "top hold listed?" And anyone else who has been accepted thinking of deferring? I just want to have some insight into the chances of actually getting a phone call.

Simburger, I haven't heard of that personally.. But I don't know how that would work if it is nursing courses you take... How can a bachelor degree prepare you for nursing school? It would be interesting to know about any courses one could take that would take off time at BCIT...

If you apply for August now, then means you give up your spot on the waitlist. If you plan to apply for the August intake, just remember not to do it at the very last minute because you need to call the admission officer to remove you from the waitlist first before you can apply.
