2nd Entry Nursing Applications for Sept. 2013 - U of T, York, McMaster

World Canada CA Programs

Published

Hello all, Just starting a thread here for any applicants to the 2nd Entry Nursing Program for U of T, York, and Mac.

People can:

-ask questions and/or post when they have received an offer of admission or rejection

-share their marks/volunteer experience

-support each other during the super stressful waiting game

-discuss application issues, essay questions, prerequisites, etc.

There was one last year and I found it super helpful to see what others were doing, when offers were going out, and which candidates were selected. It's also a good reference for next year's potential applicants.

For myself, I have applied to U of T, Mac, York, and Dalhousie, with an A- or 3.66 GPA overall and 3.63 in my last 30 credits (10 half courses or 5 whole courses). I do not hold a Bachelor degree, but am in 3rd year at York's Honours BA Psychology, and hold an Associate of Arts from Langara College in BC. I have several years experience volunteering for an inner-city after-school program, for a crisis intervention phone line, and with fundraising.

Last year I was rejected from U of T with 3.53 in the last 30 credits, and only 2 years post-secondary. I had a C+ in one of my reported pre-requisites.

Hope this helps everyone and best of luck to you all!!

I had a 3.91/2ish GPA in my final year and a 3.87 cumulative average. Hope this helps. I'll be declining my Western offer though, hopefully it helps someone else out!

I just received an offer today for Queen's fast track program- but I will be declining!

I got my acceptance to U of T on the first day they released them. I had a HBSc in Biomedical Sciences, 3.88 gpa in last year, 3.14 overall, my lowest pre-req mark was a 77 I think. it probably helped that I had volunteered in a hospital and worked full time as a research assistant for a year.

Hey just got into u of t! good luck to everyone still waiting, stay strongg! hope to see you all there

final year gpa was 3.9

finishing my BSc in a biomedical science program. all prerequisites complete with A's except for an anatomy course (B) and physiology 1 (B)

extracurricular stuff

I volunteered with the heart and stroke foundation for 3 years

i was a Teaching assistant instructing a 3rd year physiology lab course

i worked with Propel research institute which studied the health and smoking habits of the youth population in ontario

volunteered in ER

and was on our science society's academic commitee

Oops I meant to post here but I think I replied by accident to someones post. I was just accepted at U of T as well. I am a 4th year honours biology student, last 10 credits average A-A+. Has anyone done research regarding U of T's program? What sets it apart? I have tentatively accepted at Western, but I am curious.

Hello prospective nurses! Just signed up to allnurses.com and excited to get chatting. I'm thrilled to have received an offer for Western's CTF BScN program. This was my first choice. Anyone else set on going to Western? I would love to connect!

I also received an offer from Western yesterday. Average of last 10 credits was 87%, and I will most likely be accepting this offer! Is anyone else set on going to Western?

nfeige - I am! Congrats!

Hi everyone. I've created a facebook page for UWO CTF BScN Class of 2015. Come join if Western is your choice! I'm going to try to get some membership from the students of the year ahead. This will be a great place to ask/answer questions about the program.

Also was admitted to McMaster's accelerated nursing program on Friday :) Good luck everyone!

I applied to UofT, Queen's, uOttawa, York, and UWO. I received an offer from uOttawa in early Feb (program starts summer 2013) and accepted because I knew there would be little hope of another offer before my mid-Feb deadline. I have since been accepted to Queen's on March 28th and to UofT on April 2nd! Even though the UofT program starts and ends later, I think UofT is my first choice! Just waiting on my letter offer in the mail before accepting online...

Good luck to everyone waiting for acceptances :)

I was just accepted to Queen's accelerated program! I was surprised because the program is small, though I'm not sure how many people applied this year. Does anyone have any info on this program? I haven't found much, just applied as an extra alternative if UofT didn't accept me. Still waiting on UofT. If anyone is going to/has gone to Queen's then I'd appreciate any info!
