CRNE OCTOBER 2012

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi everyone! I am an IEN from the Philippines batch 2009 I moved here in Brampton last November 2010.

I took the May 2012 CPNRE (first time) and still waiting for the results which will come out on June. Apparently, I just received my RN eligibility and so happy because it took me almost 14months (from the start of application) to wait for this. I thought CNO will make me take some courses. I was really estatic and relieved when I received the letter, because I am really rooting for RN.

Now this is it! Anyone else who are planning to take the October CRNE? :)

Let's use this thread to share our thoughts regarding preparation and questions. :)

the right answer is Dehydrated: Rational...due to dehydration it mess up all your electrolyte balance

Hi , sorry to hear that bad news. I am IEN and even I am writing CRNE in October for the first time.

I would like to now what difficulties you faced in the examination hall; whether you could not attend all the questions or the questions were very tough, you have never came across??? Please tell your experience so that it will be a very good help for the future candidates.

Thanks in advance.

honestly it all depends on you how well you are prepared. the ???'s in exam are very wierd and vague. looked easy but very tricky specially if english is your second language like me ;(. questions are pterry long like paragraph. i had to read it 3 time to ensure what they are asking. don't mean to scare you. attempting all the questions on time depends on your time mgmt. i finished all the questions on time yet failed. my friend she missed 15 questions and she passed. basically you need to nkow all the diseases, their side effects nursing interventions, meds: side effect, waht food to take, which one to avoid, pt's education, prevention, health promotion, all nursing skills and procedures such as wound drainages, iv, foley catheter, chest tubes, picc, cvc, code of ethics, how you communicate with your pt, how to deal with conflict within health care team etc etc....i don't know how am i suppose tp prepare myself this time...wish you all the best...

note from staff:

per our

terms of service

please post in english only; no text speak

Thank you very much for giving the facts of the exam. I am going through mosby's review book and med-surg book for main disease conditions only. Moreover, doing some questions daily. I do not know what's the best way for preparation, however, just trusting God and going ahead.

And please tell me, how many questions were there when you wrote the exam and what was the passing mark. Thank you very much.

Hi CRNE October test takers,

Let us try this question..

Mr. X, 49 years old, presents to the Emergency Department with a 2 hour history of chest pain associated with shortness of breath. During the nurse's assessment, Mr.X suddenly collapses on the stretcher. What should be the nurse's priority action?

1. Open airway with the head-chin-tilt lift manoeuvre.

2. Check for the carotid pulse.

3. Determine responsiveness.

4. Perform tongue-jaw lift to see if a foreign body is visible.

answer is 3
