CRNE OCTOBER 2012

World Canada CRNE

Published

Hi everyone! I am an IEN from the Philippines batch 2009 I moved here in Brampton last November 2010.

I took the May 2012 CPNRE (first time) and still waiting for the results which will come out on June. Apparently, I just received my RN eligibility and so happy because it took me almost 14months (from the start of application) to wait for this. I thought CNO will make me take some courses. I was really estatic and relieved when I received the letter, because I am really rooting for RN.

Now this is it! Anyone else who are planning to take the October CRNE? :)

Let's use this thread to share our thoughts regarding preparation and questions. :)

Please if anyone has any tips on books on how to study for CRNE I need help. I bought lippincott yesterday. Do you think I should buy mosbys too? I want to write it in February, but am not sure. I failed and am so depressed. I need help with study plan and must start to be more positive. When I read your comments of you guys who failed and passed afterwards, I start to feel some hope

For me mosby's is more helpful than lippincott's.. Lippincott's are more theory based, it's too straight to the point and does not exercise your critical thinking. Mosby's crne prep guide and CNA prep guide are really useful. I used the 3rd, 4th and 5th edition of prep guide. We also purchased the CNA readiness test.

Can you tell me which edition of mosbys to buy. I cannot buy them all, so please let me know i really want to pass the exam. Thank you

you can borrow the latest mosby prep guide from the local library.. i didn't buy the mosby and lippincott's.. i just borrowed from the mississauga central library.. and also in brampton library..

Hello there if you have a study or want to form one then I am interested. Yes! The idea of Skype voice &/or video conferencing would be convenient and time saving.

Hi Elliek,

Were the questions from CRNEcentral.com helpful?

Thanks,

Hi Elliek,

Were the questions from CRNEcentral.com helpful?

Thanks,

C

Don't purchase that, that's more specific for NCLEX.

Purchase the Readiness Test, it's really helpful. Really looks like the actual exam. And if u can get your hands on the CRNE prep guides 3rd, 4th and 5th edition, it's really helpful. You will master how to answer psychosocial questions. 1month prior the exam, I answered 600-700 questions everyday. Over and over, until I get 95-99% in all the exams. I answered mosby's prep guide, lippincotts, mosby's comprehensive exam for nurses (orange) and the latest one (blue and orange). I answered them all, and I take notes on all the items I got wrong, wrote the rationale and make sure I understand it. Also, I read more on the topics i'm weak at.

IMPORTANT: Read the question carefully, know what is being asked. NEVER OVERTHINK.

I passed both CPNRE (May 2012) and CRNE (Oct 2012). :)

Thanks Littlezhuzhu and kheemooy.

Kheemooy, Did you just repeat do the questions? it is my 2nd time. I have to study very hard!

fairy C Do you know from your test results what your gaps in knowledge are?

Hi dishes, professional practice and nurse-client relationship are where I did the worst.

Thanks Littlezhuzhu and kheemooy.

Kheemooy, Did you just repeat do the questions? it is my 2nd time. I have to study very hard!

I actually enrolled at Nurses Education Inc. for 1 month. I also answered their mock exams, there were all in all 1500 questions that we did during the mock exams. I also answered them again. On top of that I answered all the prep guides twice. I answered them over and over, til I get tired of them. I think I answered in total of 3000 questions. I never stopped until 2 days before the exam. You gotta set your schedule everyday, set target hours for each exam. For example, 2-3hrs for 200items. I also developed time management when it comes to test taking. I go to public library everyday, so there's no distraction, no TV, no one will bug me. You really have to work double time and exhaust all the resources you have.
