I applied for crne in Ontario 1 year back , still they say its in que/processing? Does anyone knows why it's taking such a long time for assessment ? If I go directly to cno will they do something to speedup my application ? Does anyone has such experience ? Thanks

I am working her as support worker . Yes I am writing cpnre exam this September .

I think cno is intentionally holding my RN application as I failed in Rpn. My friends who applies after me they already got eligibility with in 8 months

I think it has more to do with demand and we have seem several IEN's post of waiting well over 12=15 months to hear from CNO

I'm sorry....am I the only one here that sees a disconnect here???

Maybe I've misunderstood all the confusing prior posts from the OP.....but I will ask this anyway...

Why would you be granted approval for your CRNE??? You failed ( through in-completion if nothing more) your CPRNE!!!

Call me crazy but something seems questionable here.

Because I am RN back home and done graduation in nursing (four year degree). So I should meet the criteria for CRNE too, did I ?

Nursing standards are different across the world hence why you are being assessed to determine if what you have back home is equal to the standards here in Canada especially for the province of Ontario. The CNO will not hold your assessment to qualify to write the CRNE just because you failed the CPNRE. As other members of this forum have indicated, if you can't pass the CPNRE, the chances of you passing the CRNE ain't any better. One thing I do know is if the school you completed your nursing studies at is a private institute, the chances are you will not get assessed to write the CRNE.

My assessment took 16 months. This is very frustrating and very bureaucratic in process, but what can we do? I found the college of nurses to be very unsympathetic, but I guess this is their process in dealing with hundreds, maybe thousands, internationally trained applicants. Be patient and it will happen. In the meantime please start studying for your licensing exam to keep you busy!

mine took almost 2 years.. that's why the gap from my last employment is now already 3 years, i successfully passed the RPN & RN exams, but CNO won't allow me to apply for registration & requiring me now to take additional education(1-2 yrs! sucks!!!) just because of the gap from my last practice...:sorry:

That's very very unfair mayah! In the first place you should not be affected with the 2013 changes... Other provinces still have thesame requirement; 5 years gap from last employment. They must give consideration in your case..it's their fault, your assessment took a lifetime! Everything is money money with CNO. Their heartless!
