Hi Everyone!

Thought I would start a thread for our examination group.

I found the exam really challenging but after reading the CPNRE - January 2012 threads and seeing how freaked out everyone was and worried that they failed, then seeing their posts about passing the exam, I feel encouraged.

I also spent a good month prepping by reviewing my notes, doing the prep guide, doing the predictor tests, and doing various test bank questions from dozens of textbooks and internet sites. I am becoming quite confident that I passed.

From what I can gather, the passing grade for last January's exam was only a 56%!!! Let's hope it is the same for us, as some of the repeat writers who failed the January exam but wrote the May exam found it as equally as difficult.

Please post your thoughts about your CPNRE May 16, 2012 experience!

Hi Everyone, I wrote in Winnipeg for the first time and am really hoping I passed. I prepared well in advance but I was unable to finish the exam by about 15-20 questions. I personally am always done tests first or close to there. I found that the exam time definitely should be increased. I am aware there are survey questions that are thrown out as well. I hope we all pass!!

Hi everyone, I wrote the CPNRE in Toronto May 16th. I felt that the exam consisted of too many questions that were not taught in the PN program. For instance, tons of ortho q's meanwhile I never had a clinical rotation in ortho. I mean there were a lot of q's I know I got right and some that I know I got wrong. At this point I have my fingers crossed praying! Good luck everyone

You're still responsible for the content whether you do a clinical rotation in a specific area or not.

Agreed you are responsible to know all content regardless if you did a clinical rotation or not; however the book only teaches you so much, it's through the clinical experience you solidify your knowledge and can really put the pieces together.. Just saying

Any news about the results?

No news on the results; going to take 6 weeks. Apparently the exam is scored out if four categories. You may get perfect on 3/4 of the categories but if you bomb the fourth you fail. Can anyone shed some light on this?

Where did you read this stuff? What is your source?

Its in the CPNRE prep guide. As well as one of my instructors told us that as a collective. So just wondering what everyone was told

According to this link all test questions are worth the same amount...1 mark each. It also says there are no specific answers we need to answer correctly to pass. This is directly from the testing company...so I am not sure why you think it is graded in 4 categories....??

Yeah I have to agree. Although the exam may be in fact divided into components reflecting differing areas of nursing practice, it is evenly marked from what I understand and the passing mark reflects the number of write or wrong answers.
