I just received a bad news. My nursing career is over. Yes, I am no longer one of you, but I feel a need to share my story. I have failed the CRNE for the third time and honestly, I don't know what is there left for me. I know... Read More

Sometimes a 4th attempt is allowed but only after writing a letter why the deserve a 4th attempt
But Julia said there is a refresher course you can take and that is incorrect.

I don't see Julia mention refresher courses but another member did and there may be refresher courses that people can take if allowed to take a fourth time. Is nothing mentioned on provincial college of RN website?

The best way is to find out from CNO.

I called the CNO this morning, its 3 tries and that's it. There is no such thing as a refresher course and you get another try they said. Also, good luck getting a 4th try from the CNO, its almost impossible. Unless you had a hypoglycemic attack, or a heart attack, they wont give you another chance. They don't care about any other reasons unless they are medically relevant and you can also prove it with a doctor.

The CNO is not on your side when you want a 4th attempt, they will give you %0 advice on how to go forward after you failed. They just don't care. My friend had to go through all this and even with medical proof, it was a long struggle for her because the CNO will do everything in their power not to give you that 4th attempt.

Every case is different I would suggest that the person who failed should contact CNO and discuss the case and ask them if there is a possibility of fourth attempt in future.

From what I heard, if you have a legitimate reason, they will let you write the exam the fourth time. I'm not too sure but this is what I heard from a girl that took a prep course with me. It was her third time writing it.

Well, not to be rude or anything and no way do i mean to offend anyone but just like what someone said, if you fail three times, maybe you should really think about your study strategies/method and whether you are ready or not. Even with a fourth attempt, who knows if it'll work to your advantage. If you look at the website, i think it says you are only allowed three attempts so I wouldn't be surprised if they denied you a fourth attempt. Its only fair.
For those who failed it, I really think it's your study method or how you looked at the questions. If you are allowed a fourth attempt, take it to a prep course instructor or even your nursing instructor and see what you can do about it. Good luck

I am so sorry to hear that. As a European RN I pass the CRNE 2005 very easy. Actually, I studied three or four months from some preparation material what I got from my friend. She took some classes with some Philippines teacher. I think that his name is Andru. I donít have any contact phone number unfortunately. Best wishes.

yahy: I am just wondering what to happen to you now. I just registered in this website couple of days ago, reason, I just finished my cpnre exam last Wednesday and I was hoping to find something about how the others thought of the May 15, 2013 exam. I admire you for standing in faith though you are facing really a hard time. It is hard to proclaim your faith and trust in HIM when things get rough and I applauded you for still listening to HIM though everything seems unimaginable. I hope you are doing well. I am not sure if you are still able to get this message as I think the last comment was 3 years ago. Everything happens for a reason and maybe one of the reason is when someone will find in the same situation and read your words and how you keep on trusting and believing and fighting and listening to God despite of whats happening, somehow they will find their own strength to fight and believe again. It is not guarantee that you pass on first try someone will be a very good nurse. I have seen from clinical experienced before that yes, they are very smart nurses but they seems to be missing compassion, care and empathy to patient.

Anyway, I really hope and pray the best for you.
