What are you getting for payment?

When I got $650/wk and 2 free tuitions (About $16K value) last summer, I thought that was par for the course. This year I'm realizing that was pretty darn good. This year I investigated three other camps:

1) No pay, free tuition

2) No pay the first summer, free tuition

3) $500/wk, free tuition (took this one)

What sort of offers have you received? Which did you take?

I earned $700 per week+plus free tuition for my son, +$300 travel allowance. Would have earned a $600 bonus at the end, but I was canned! :(

Although I got free tuition for my two kids and made $300/wk, I ended up with a $500 tab from the various day trips they went on. I had no idea there'd be so many trips and they'd be so costly. I sorta thought they'd be part of the tuition. It's not something I was expecting to cough up after receiving such a reduced wage all summer. Ouch.

Ouch! Interesting u say this as there were several things my kids had to 'bring' their own, shirts for tie dying or $$ to go to off sites. Luckily I did not get billed BUT my kids missed out because it was never talked about!

$5000 for 9 weeks-Head Nurse position. Includes travel expenses and free tuition for my son- ($12000.) I had support of five additional nurses for 250 campers and amazing support from administration. I would have worked for $500! This is such a wonderful experience for my son. I'll be returning until he "graduates." I'm hooked!

What state are u from? 9 weeks is loooong! Lol. I was the sole nurse for 180 campers and about 35 counselors! For only 2 weeks...How do I get a camp to realize they need to hire more staff?

Up in PA I work at a camp with an 8 week program, so my contract is also 9.5 weeks. We have 650+ campers. We are pushing for another nursing position as well, always justify what you plan to improve or change with the new position.
