Question about giving Homeopathic Medications at Camp

I work at a camp in PA, and was wondering how your camps handle dispensing homeopathic medications or any medications not approved by the FDA. We have many campers that bring probiotics and other homeopathic medications, how does your camp handle these medications? Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Monica RN

I pass them out according to the parents' and/or practitioner's instructions, like anything else. If I came across something that I strongly felt was harmful, I would probably call the parents and explain why I felt I couldn't give it--just as I would if I felt they were receiving a harmful dosage of mainstream medication.

The camp I have worked at (Global Youth Village) has offered homeopathic options during its entire 30 year history. It has standing orders by an MD/homeopath in addition to regular allopathic standing orders, so bases are covered on all front. We learn of the youths preferences from their med forms and when we interview them upon arrival
