    Hi everyone, I will be finishing my pre requisite courses in Fall 2013. I am a California resident. I just don't think there's a good reason for applying to these colleges when there are so many people applying here. Example I called Napa Valley College and they have a waitlist of 400 student. Even SBCC have a waitlist of "several years" as the very helpful lady stated. That is hectic for students who are actually waiting. Is there anyone in California who is feeling this way about the colleges? Do you plan to apply out of state? I know that it is good to work in California far as the pay goes, but I don't think it is such a good idea for school. I wish you all the best of luck and I look forward to your responses.

    I'm a California resident too. I'm currently at a community college, and I've been told that my schools has a SIX YEAR WAIT LIST! I think that's actually pretty common for community colleges because of the low cost, but it just does not seem practical at all. I'm planning on going straight for my BSN, and not a lot of the nursing programs in California really appeal to me because most of them are CSUs/commuter campuses and A) there will be more applicants/more competitive and B) that typical college experience is actually pretty important to me.

    As of right now, I'm planning on applying to 2 CSUs, 2 privates in CA, and 1 private in Washington.

    No wait list at any of the California schools I'm applying to. All of them are competitive or lottery. Personally I'm applying to a few private colleges as well. If all else fails I'm applying to LVN school because the bridge programs tend to have fewer applicants in my area. That is my last result to get in somewhere next year.

    A six year wait is so long. Its overwhelming to even think of how long it will take to get into a program. Do you think the BSN programs wont be as competitive to get into a program? Have you completed your pre requisite?

    Yea I see that the criteria for admission has changed in California. I'm thinking of applying to private colleges also. I'm also trying to get in by next year. Have you finished your pre requisites? Are you going to a private college for the LVN program?

    The LVN is through the local school districts adult education program. It is my LAST option as the job outlook for LVN is bleaker than RN and I'd stop getting fin aid I did it . But desperate times call for desperate measures!

    I completely understand. I'm sure everything will work out for you. Everyone wants to be a nurse here in California and we have to find any which way to become one so I understand 100 percent.

    I don't know if BSN programs are less competitive, but I imagine that ever if they were, they're still hard to get into. I just have Physiology and Speech left for pre-reqs!
