USC New Grad Program 2011 - Page 15
Register Today!- Jan 7, '11 by RN,BSN,PHNQuote from RN,BSN,PHNbtw, i know about that heated rivalry between UCLA and USC. so nuts! I didnt even want to submit my letter of rec. from a clinical preceptor I had while at UCLA Lab School. The letter head was huge i figured that it might throw off the recruiters and quickly put my application in the "heck no" pile. hahaHey sasagirl,
are you currently a nurse at uscuh?? if so, how long ago and how was the hiring process for you? - Jan 7, '11 by m2theRZA@RN,BSN,PHN
Woops, maybe should have clarified more -- I did my undergrad at USC with a different major and worked at Keck school of medicine during this time doing lab research and tutoring ...all non-nursing related (I just finished an accelerated BSN program at a different school) so I'm completely unsure of the hiring process at USCUH :/ sorry. i just thought I would've been considered just being alumni and having work experience in the university already, but apparently not :P
Ah, did you really not submit an LOR from a preceptor from UCLA?? The rivalry is pretty heated-- but friendly (at least I'd like to think! lol) for the most part. That would be just wrong if they were to exclude someone based on the institution they are affiliated with! But, we'll see, hope you hear good news soon and definitely keep us posted once you learn more (I'm actually interested in the outcome and the amt of people hired-- specifically for Neuro ICU as that was my first choice
). Best of luck!
- Jan 8, '11 by juliehanHi everyone,
Anybody received a call or e-mail from USC HR yet? Please let me know because I'm still waiting, I guess I will be waiting until I turn 60 ha... Keep me posted, thanks so much. - Jan 8, '11 by MisterSimbaQuote from sasagrrrlI'm not a Bruin. I have no affiliation with UCLA. I was just being sarcasticOh, whatever MisterSimba -- being a bruin is EXACTLY why you weren't considered! Just kidding.... I'm actually a Trojan, so of course seeing that ignites a bit of the SC/UCLA rivalry instilled within us

(PS: being a USC alumni did NOT put me in an advantage at all. No call, no email, no nothing. I even worked at Keck School of Medicine all throughout undergrad! Oh well...)
Best of luck to everyone waiting to hear from USC! Quite an accomplishment -- especially since a previous poster said they were only hiring 10 applicants to the Versant program this year, right? And don't forget to load up on rocking the cardinal & gold once you start working too
- Jan 10, '11 by RN,BSN,PHNAnything? Anyone?.. man! what is taking so long for them to let us know our status? at this point, I think a rejection email would even be relieving. haha
- Jan 10, '11 by QRN22So an update for all that are waiting to hear- I just got called and offered a position at USC. I did not accept it because I took a position last week at UCLA, for many reasons including the fact that I had not heard anything from USC.
My whole experience with them has been odd- I did not originally get the email that most of you received for the "call back" for the second "meet the managers" interview. Later that Mon night after most of you went to the unit, I got called saying my name was mistakenly left off the list and I was supposed to be there that day for the second round. Weird. Anyway, I went later that week to meet the managers, enjoyed the unit and staff, and did not hear anything back until the email we all received the night of Jan 4 about the positions being sent in to HR. Its been a week since then, so I believed I did not get picked, as well as had other offers that I was very excited about (including the one I took at UCLA.)
Sorry for the long story, but wanted to let you all know that USC is calling, and there is a position up for grabs in CVTICU! Best of luck to all of you who accept! - Jan 10, '11 by RN,BSN,PHNQuote from QRN22Thanks for letting us know ! I tried calling both recruiters, but no pick up. except for the versant program manager, who else do you think I can talk to about the mystery "list"?
- Jan 11, '11 by pinky2010Quote from juliehan@juliehan: i got a a call and was offered a job. they told me they are behind schedule. good luck!Hello again Pinky 2010,
I have no clue how many people they are looking for med. surg. This is very confusing because I don't know what is my status since until today I did not receive any rejection e-mail (thank God). They told me that they will notify the candidates either they're selected or not. You know, everytime I checked my e-mail, I always looked for the rejection e-mail ha..
Take care. -
