  4. Hi world2another,

The entrance exam that LA County administers is the "California Achievement Test".

    1. What does the exam consist of?
This exam consists of a Reading Test - which has two sections: Vocabulary and Comprehension. There is also a Mathematics portion - with two sections: Computation and Concepts & Applied Skills.

    2. Is the entrance exam hard?
The entrance exam was not hard at all for me - it was pretty basic and reminded me of the high school exit exam.

    3. What are recommended study guides?
I used the Princeton Review's SAT prep book to study for the Reading Test; and, I used the Princeton Review's GED prep book to study for the Mathematics Test. You should be able to find these books at your local public library.

    Best wishes!
