  1. So if you calculate your score and you are at the cutoff then you are an alternate? And if your score is higher than the cutoff than you are not an alternate?
  2. @DarkBluePhoenix how do you know alternates get to go to orientation? Do we have to dress nicely for that too?

Also, I'm pretty sure you're not the cutoff score, my score is lower than yours.
  3. @PeaceLoveHapp3ness- The closer your score is to the cutoff, 9.1, the higher the chances you are 1 of the 20-30 alternates.

  4. clueless is right. the closer to the cut off you are, the more likely your an alternate.
lucy. alternates are required to go to orientation to keep their waitlist number. i think it was covered in csulb spring bsn.
i honestly dont know if i am an alternate. its more than likely, thats all.
  5. Again, congrats to those who got an interview! I am happy for you guys. Unfortunately, I didn't get one but I will be applying again in the spring with no course in progress so hopefully my chances will be better.

I have a question for those who will be applying to other nursing schools for spring of 2013. Through my search, I have not found a BSN program in southern CA that will be open to applicants for spring of 2013. For instance, CSU san diego are reviewing applications for spring of 2013 class, but you had to apply like last november. My question is, do you know of any BSN programs in southern ca that will accept applications this summer for their spring of 2013 class? I only applied to csulb and I want to increase my odds of getting into a BSN program by applying to other schools.

Any info will be greatly appreciated!
  6. Oh okay then, thank you guys. Now I am wondering whether I am an alternate or not. But when I was talking to one of the members of the CNRA.. I forgot who, he said that they would tell you whether you were an alternate or not, but im not sure if thats exactly true.
  7. Yeah, one girl in my group asked the people observing us if they were allowed to tell us our ranking. They said no

Is your class in progress now? and will be done this spring (June 2012?) If so, you can apply for CSUSB winter 2012/2013 BSN program.
    Good luck
  9. Peace: Dont worry about being an alternate or not. Chances are, your score is higher than some of ours so you shouldn't worry.
But if it will put peace in your mind. Calculate you score
Science GPA: This is easier to just calculate your GPA and use that number (ex. 3.4) and that is worth 3.4 points
GE GPA: Take the GPA of the four courses and divide by 2. (example 3.0/2 = 1.5) So according to the example, that is worth 1.5 points.
Teas Math: just convert your TEAS math percentage into a decimal and multiply by one (ex. 92.5%=.925*2=1.85 points) According to the example that is worth 1.85 points
Teas Overall: same with the math but you take your overall score instead (i am sure you can figure it out)
Add up the points and that is what you get out of 10. If it is 9.1 or close to it, your most likely an alternate (we are assuming here, but chances are that we are right). If you have a higher score, then dont worry.
That is how you calculate your score.
But relax! I am sure a lot of us (not me) have a really good, if not definite chance of getting in.
  10. @ DarkBlue: Thanx so much for your help. I will just try to relax and wait. That's all we all can really do right now.

But not to offend you or anything, you shouldn't put yourself down so much. You have made it this far and that is something to be proud of. I know you shouldn't get your hopes up too high, but you shouldn't put yourself down too low.

And that goes for everyone else also. I don't want to offend all of you since I don't know you all, but I have learned that everything happens for a reason, and if it is your fate that you make it, you will.
