    does anyone know of any good nursing schools in california that go by the lottery system?

    I'm not confident in my GPA, as I have a few A's but several B's and C's for my pre-reqs. Really want to go into nursing but don't want to completely be turned away because my GPA isn't as competitive. Samuel Merritt is one of the schools I'm looking to apply to, but I'm not sure how much of a chance I'll have.

    I read something that said all california community colleges are using the lottery system, but as far as I know, all community colleges only offer ADN programs. I'm interested in getting a BSN, but also desperate to get into any school that will take me.

    if you know of any private, csu's, or even good community college programs that you know of.. anything that will help... please share!

    All California community colleges DO NOT use a lottery system. A lot of them are GPA-based or based on multiple factors like work/volunteer experience, need to work, being bilingual or multilingual and other background items. Anyhow, your best bet, albeit likely more expensive bet, might be private schools, but pretty much all nursing programs -- ADN, BSN and MSN alike -- are all pretty competitive in California, so you may want to spread yourself around a bit and grab ahold of the first institution willing to bite.

    also you could put your name on waitlist colleges, there are several in ca (Moorpark, Yuba, etc...)

    How are you so sure that ALL california schools are NOT lottery based?

    Re-read my post. I spoke only of community colleges because those are the only schools in California I have attended information sessions for where program directors expressly stated "we do not use a lottery system."
    Now, I have applied to a program at a CSU...whose selection process is also NOT lottery based. They rank you based on your GPA and TEAS score. I answered only with the experience I have. I did not mean to offend, upset or discourage anyone. I never want anyone to walk around misinformed, though.

    Edited to add: my post meant there are schools that do not use lottery, not that there are no schools in California that do. LOL. I see how that could've been confusing.

    OP - I only know of schools in Southern California since that's where I am. Are you primarily interested in lottery-based BSN programs?

    Do your own research, you'll find that not all schools are lottery based. It's pretty obvious...

    i've come across a lot of schools that are not lottery based, and have only heard about contra costa community being lottery based. just trying to see if anyone recommends one that i can look into.
