White Memorial- RN New Grad 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone! Who else has applied and does anyone know by when will they start to contact us for interviews? This would be my last chance to get into a new grad program, otherwise I would have to wait til the summer. So please feel free to post anything and everything here! Good luck to everyone!!

OH that's good! I have been reviewing those medication problems. Hopefully it goes well!(: Thanks so much!!!

I am interviewing for med-surg and telemetry. My first choice on the panel was med-surg and pediatrics. But I guess they thought i would be better on a tele or med-surg floor. I actually only had one day in a tele floor so I hope they don't ask me all these cardiac questions haha. :banghead:

I will def let you know what they tell me regarding the next step! I really hope we both get in!!! Thank you so much for your help!! I will let you know what I hear :D

I hope I find out about mine this week and yes, please let me know other information that they will tell you. lol I really want to get this position too! :) So are you interviewing for 2 units or just medsurg?

It's not really conversions, more of -- dose/have. If there's any conversion it's mostly L--> mL or however you want to convert it to get the answer. As far as the interview, it's different from the panel. It's more of a conversation -- tell me about yourself type thing and then you go from there. They didn't ask me any scenarios.

haha I reviewed like crazy too!

I have the same situation! my first choice was ED and I forgot to tell them my 2nd choice so they chose the units for me which is kinda cool since they didn't turn me down just because I had a different choice.

One of my interview was for tele. I really liked the tele manager.... I think you'll like her too :) I'll probably see you around if we both get picked for tele! hehehe

Thanks anais1999, mine were different people as well. For those of you who have gotten invited back for a 2nd interview, did they require you to bring in anything with you?

My 2nd interview is tomorrow as well. They didn't say to bring anything but I am going to bring copies of my resume and copies of my certifications and RN license. I'm hoping this second round will be more relaxed than the first round interview. Does anyone know what type of questions were asked during the second round? Any behavioral questions? Good luck to you!

How did your interview go today?

Hey nglaurenRN,

so my interview was really weird! I took the exam and then I had to wait for like 30 minutes after.Turned out the tele manager was not there. So i met with the stroke manager. I had already interviewed with her during the panel interview. She only showed me around the unit and asked me two questions. She then made me wait for 20minutes and offered me a position. It was really strange!

According to HR decisions would be made Friday!Hope I see you around. :D

NgLaurenRN- I think we were there together! I had ICU interview first and then I met with the same lady that was at my panel interview. She also offered me a position. =)

BTW- there are 40 positions open so I think they may bump up the acceptance rate for new grads.

Anais1999- oh! we probably were!! hahaha

OMG! Congrats rn242!!

I guess things really happen for a reason! if the tele manager was around i don't think you would find out the decision right away! i'm so happy for you and I just got nervous when you said Friday! that's 2 days away... lol i don't think i'm so ready to hear what kind of news I will get (especially if it's bad new)! lol

Hope to see you around too!!

congrats to you too anais1999!

I guess stroke units were able to make their decisions right away.

The unit managers that I interviewed with wanted to see all the new grads first so i have to wait :(

The other manager told me that they were hiring 30 and now there's 40? wow... I hope I get the position too!

The manager that I met with said 40 and she said ED is in need of nurses but I don't think they can hire that many new nurses in the ED- so it could really be 30. Either way, I think 30-40 is better than some of the places that I've been applying to, who are only looking to hire like 10 people with 600 applicants. haha Good luck nglaurenRN! I've overheard some of the managers say that they'll over-hire rather than under-hire too- which is always a good sign.

Anais1999,

So did you accept the position in the stroke unit? If so, did you discuss wages and schedules?
