In the Bay area the base pay is between 37 and 44 dollars an hour for Staff Nurse I ( no experience) This is not including differencials or night pay. Many nurses can hit 6 figures with a little overtime. Hope that helps!

BTW it is really expensive to live here before you get too excitied :) Sac is not too bad for living expenses...

Sacto is about 2 hours northeast of SF. San Jose is 1 hour southeast of SF. The rates for SJ are about the same. Sacto is a little lower for new grads. But the cost of living is lower in Sacto and San Jose than SF. Just do a Google search on the 3 cities and hospitals. Good luck.

I know that Kaiser just decided to pay all of its' norcal RN's the same, so the nurses in SF, SJ, and Sacto will all be making the same $$ within a year or so- that means great! pay in Sac, esp. with the lower cost of living.

Are you serious?? My God, that's terrific. Here in Victoria, Australia, the base pay rate for a graduate nurse is something like $23.50. I want to move to Long Beach (my partner lives there) and I was fully expecting a pay cut. So this is...more reassuring.
