What do you think of kaplan college ??!

Is it a waste of money and time ?! I need help I want to finish fast my goal is to become an Rn but in my college there is a high demand for the nursing program I need like 6 biology classes and I can only take 2 per year because there's no summer sessions or winter session that's why I'm looking for a good nursing shool but I want to go straight for the program!!

You are correct regarding the Prereqs, however, the nursing classes are affected as well since Kaplan's nursing program is not accredited with CCNE. I transferred all of my Gen Ed's and sciences in leaving me with nursing classes only, but SDSU and National will still not accept the nursing classes from what I understand (Unless something has changed). There are many schools that will accept the transfers, but one would need to check ahead of time to ensure transferability.
Do you know what other schools will except the classes from kaplan by chance? Did someone from national say they wouldn't take kaplan adn grads? Maybe it did change, I looked at national's catalog again and for the rn-bsn program it says your previous nursing school had to be brn approved but nothing about ccne accredited. For their masters degree though it says your bsn must be ccne accredited. I would think that if the rn-bsn program would only take rns from ccne accredited programs it would say. I'm not stuck on transferring to national though so if that isn't true it won't break my heart or anything haha. I know kaplan has programs all the way up to masters though, so it's not like it will be impossible to further your education but I'd like to have more than a couple options after I finish at kaplan.

Hey, congrats on starting an rn program :)

For now, WGU, WCU, UOP and UTA will take my transfers, but again, I prefer distance learning for my BSN so that I have a little more flexibility. I went to National to inquire about the LVN-BSN program a little over a year ago. I was told that my nursing courses would not transfer over at that time. This isn't to say that the RN-BSN program has a different set of rules regarding transfers:-) best to check with an advisor to confirm:-). Are you a current Kaplan ADN student? Or are you starting soon?

thanks for the tips! I'm applying to start in may. I already took the sle and ktp. As soon as I get a letter of employment I'll be going in again to do enrollment papers or something. I'm excited to find out when I'll start my last few prereqs. She said I need to finish them before may. How long do you havet in the lvn rn program?

My pleasure, but you might want to confirm with all schools on your consideration list, that your Kaplan classes will transfer in:-)

Good deal that you are applying for May. You mention your last few Prereqs--are you taking them now and transferring? Are you an LVN doing the step up?

My grad date is September 3rd 2014 (20 months) I believe this is only one semester less than regular entry students, but I'm not positive.

Feel free to PM me as to your progress, maybe we'll cross paths on campus:-)

I decided to go to kaplan it is expensive bit hopefully I will finish in 3 years so much less than I would in a community college in my area because it is saturated and more for nursing. I have done a lot of research and found that university of Phoenix accredits kaplans classes for a bachelors degree and if I want to continue for a masters sdsu acreedits Phoenix credits so I may end with a master in nursing if I chose to and from a accredited school wish me good luck people :)

Good luck! Do you already have hands on patient experience or are you doing a program at kaplan for that? Do you know what start date you'll apply for?

Cool. I took most of the prereqs at community college before I gave kaplan fair consideration. I'm taking the last ones (between 2-4 depending on what transfers) at kaplan otherwise I'd have to wait to apply until next january. My only patient experience is that I was a dental assistant a while ago, but it will work! :)

Well, we'll cross our fingers that all of your previous course work will transfer in and that you will only have two non nursing classes to take when you start:-)
