I don't have any pre reqs for nursing, currently working as a police officer night shift. Can somebody who is or has attended WCU with no pre reqs tell me what the class hours would be? I want to see if I can pull it off working a night shift. Thank you!

Good morning!

Although I can't answer your specific question, we are the largest peer to peer nursing site and someone else will be along to help you!

Hi eugenee,

Nice to see another one in my same field switching to nursing. I was going to switch to nights if I went to West Coast University but I think I will be attending instead since they are online for the core courses you need to start clinicals.

Welcome to the forum.

I went to the information session at the Los Angeles campus and got information. I have the cirriculum at home and can get it to you so you can learn how they do it. They have it set up where all your pre-reqs are done in the beginning and then straight into the nursing course. You are accepted into the nursing program the moment you start your pre-reqs. No waiting to apply for the nursing portion. You are actually in the BSN program from the time you start classes to the end.

I will get you a copy of the breakdown. Someone may be able to answer on here that is still a student but I will make sure I get you a copy of what they gave me on how they set up the course. Every 10 weeks you have 2 to 3 new course that can be 2 to 4 days a week. They don't have a set schedule for the whole program. As you complete courses they give you a schedule for the next courses and you can't change them from what I heard. They are a bit tricky on scheduling.

Be prepared to retake any classes you want to transfer in and foot the bill for 100,000+.

Durandx4 He was saying he wanted to start from the beginning meaning all pre-reqs done at WCU. that is going to cost $130,000 in tuition.

If you have completed the course for pre reqs and the sciences, you can transfer them to WCU. They do not deny transfer of classes. I recommend taking the pre-reqs somewhere else to lessen your cost. Go to an information session to get the real information.

You will find yourself getting alot of negative posts from folks on here about WCU.

WCU was one of my choices and I have a Bachelor degree and sciences done that will all transfer so I will only be doing the nursing portion. I only need to take my TEAS and retake a Physiology class due to a bad A&P 2 Instructor of another school I attend. The majority received very low grades causing us all to retake the course.

If you decide to do the program shoot me a message and let me know. I still have my options open. I am thinking about switching to nights if I attend WCU.

I did go to an information session, I had all my pre reqs done, and had a transfer eval done, and for lack of better words, they tried to take all of my Va benefits. Funny how any other school took all my college credits taken in the Marine Corps yet they say "they don't transfer" and even with the GI BIll and Yellow Ribbon I would pay almost 70,000 out of pocket and it would still take me 32 months. Yet I move to Boston, it cost me nothing out of pocket, I took one semester of pre reqs and 9 months of school. Huge difference. That place is borderline criminal how they try to rip off Veterans and other students.

My cousin goes to the LA campus and starred with no classes

, it is costing her $159,000.

thats all ....

My coworker will be attending the lvn-bsn at wcc in ontario and her tuition will cost her $80-88k due to her being a lvn already and she has taken majority of the prereqs. She just got hired at kaiser and they are helping her pay the tuition which is a huge plus. I'm currently looking into a bsn nursing school in san juan puerto rico that's accredited and where you can get a bsn in 2.5yrs for around 20k tuition. I will be contacting the ca bon for license endorsement verification.

That may be all, but to me it sounds like plenty!

It's insane....I wasn't going to comment anymore cause these threads about WCU become ridiculous...... but i would say people who pay that much MOST LIKELY have done very little if any homework into the current job market or pay rate for new grad nurses...

Wow Really??? Thats crazy. I have my Post 9/11 GI Bill and Yellow ribbon if they have it available at the time. I think I will stick with instead. Better for working students who need flexibility and they have a better reputation than WCU.

I won't be taking my benefits there.
