i have questions about the bs nursing program at west coast university - orange county

  1. i have only high school diploma, do i need to do prerequisite courses at west coast university before i start the bs nursing program?
  2. west coast university got [color=#b22222](ccne) accreditation, does my bs degree (from west coast university) will be accepted in other universities (ucla, uci and csu) in case if i want to apply for ms program?
  3. does the $126.000 enough to cover the 39 months of study at west coast university? or i need more?
  4. is it easy to get a job after graduate from a private school? do you think employees prefer graduates of state universities than private universities?

Deny the fact go ahead. Not arguing just pointing out the blatant truth which is unfortunate for you guys.

West coast Uni. is 132k without pre-reqs and APU is 126k, many private universities are expensive. West coast has changed, their program is good and I have learned a lot so far. I am studying hard everyday because I know every nursing school do kick students out if they don't reach a certain level. Myself I took all my general edu. classes @ CC & I knock down the price to 85k. My advice to people who want to come to this school is to take pre-reqs @ cc and then transfer.

BE VERY AFRAID of WCU!!!

As an experienced nurse who hears what managers say after an interview, I've heard of these students not being chosen because of the rumor that they have a very "hands off" program.

That is a sh*t ton of debt to accrue in this economy when people graduating from programs with much better reputations can't find jobs.

I am applying to several csu's and in the log run I see that as the better route. I will save money, get a better education and not have to worry about getting a job. WCU has a reputation for running a shady operation and that is not something I would suggest my friends or family to be associated with. Unless you have "connections" with human resources or whoever hires, expect a little trouble when applying.

I would do a search around the forum for the trouble that MANY new grads are having finding their first job, from every type of college.

If csu grads are having trouble then imagine the pain the wcu will endure.

yeah but if you graduate from WCU you are even worse off and you have more debt than everyone else

That is obvious but this person is lying to themself. He/she persuaded themself that wcu is the same as a regular state school.

yeah, and I get it. if you spent >100K for a school, you'd be clutching on to that idea all the way to the loan office.

Okay, I am not lying to myself, it took me 3 years deciding to go there so trust me, I know the risks. I just said there won't be "extreme prejudice". If there is, then I guess I will deal with it then. WCU has come a long way since I first visited the campus before they ever had their CCNE. You chose your path and I chose mine and I am very happy with where I am at. No need to drag this on.

Good luck getting a job and paying your loan. Good day to you.

And yes, the loans are outrageous. But thankfully, I have that part covered already so it is not a big deal for me. If I had kids already would I do this? Absolutely not.
