Hey everyone! I turned in my nursing application for the university of SF in January. I wanted to see if there was anyone on here that's on the same boat as I am. Does anyone know when we... Read More

yeah im sort of thinking maybe i didnt get in and thats why its coming up that way. its been that way for about the last month. im trying not to let it get the best of me but not feeling so great about it. im guessing since people that got in said their letters were printed on march 11th that they print letters on monday to be mailed out so if you are close to the bay then you will probably receive around wednesday but that is just a guess.

Initially when you logged in you could click on "Fall 2013" and see the dates of your processed documents, but now it doesn't even show that link? That's strange...I would call and ask. But I wouldn't assume it means you didn't get in! Don't give up hope

Hiitsjina, Usf isn't actually my first choice because I would be a transfer student from a cal state, it would of taken me 7 years to even complete a BSN (I know, don't ask). Samuel Merritt is my first choice because the program is two years and is obviously less money. I don't find out my fate until mid June so until then, usf is my only choice for now. Other than the fact of waiting for another university, usf nclex passing rate is pretty good - 88% if I'm not mistaken, they help you get a feel of the actual nclex every semester and their tests are in similar format for this very reason. I know this because I've been to a info session with the transfer coordinator.

If you're an incoming freshman, I'd say do it; because you'll have your bsn in 4 short years, the campus is beautiful, the faculty is good, and I mean...it's in San Francisco. What more can you ask for? If money isn't TOO big of a hassle and have a means to an end, I'd say go for it. If I could do it will over again knowing all that I know now, I would have went straight to a private university instead of a crappy state university.

Kayevangelista, yep I'm an incoming freshmen..money is one of the biggest barriers that keeps me from singing my intent to enroll form for usf. I'm stuck between usf and csulb, which also has a really good nursing program (I think their nclex passing rate is 96%) is the $33,000 difference in tuition really worth it?

Is the 33k difference at which school really worth it? At usf?

Yes. Usf tuition=$39,840 whereas csulb=$6240...that gap makes me cringe everytime

I feel the same way. But it's really something you have to weight out on your own.

Make a list- what are the pros and cons of both? What do you like about each school?what are the NCLEX pass rates of each? How much financial help will you be offered? How willing are you to take out loans? Wherever you may live, are you willing to leave home, commute, live on your own, etc. there are a lot of things you have to take into account.

For me, I have to take into account usf and samuel Merritt - still waiting for SM. but if I were to get into sm, I would go there... Because its two years and less than 100k, and also because I'm a 4th year transfer student and had to work the majority of my college years so it took me longer, so naturally I want to go to the university that will help me finish sooner. Although I'm not totally in love with Merritt's campus, and am with usf's campus, I'd still go with samuel Merritt.

BUT if I were a freshman, I would go to usf, I personally, would not and will not be worried about having to pay back the loans because that nursing salary, although not as big as a doctor or lawyer, etc., will be enough. Read reviews from nursing students from both schools, make your lists, and go from there

    Hope this helps!

Received my rejection letter--I wasn't surprised because even though my GPA is high, I'm not done with my volunteer work and it seems that everyone has either work or volunteer experience. I also was very apprehensive about the extremely high tuition, but it would have been nice to hear a "yes" even if I wouldn't have attended.

Good luck to everyone attending USF next year!!

Has anyone else heard a yes or no? I still haven't heard anything one way or the other. Maybe i'm on some sort of alternate list... wishful thinking at this point!

@brookegerner i applied and haven't received any news in the mail yet either.... at this point i'm guessing that i didn't get in, but a notification in the mail would have been nice instead of not hearing anything..

@jazzyp8, it's odd cause someone on here received a rejection letter awhile back at this point. i've emailed admissions but of course have not heard anything back. i will keep my fingers crossed that maybe we are on an alternate list. people have until may 1 to accept or decline their offers and they probably have a short list of people to take the places of those that decline. keep the hope alive!
