UCSF Intensive Cardiac Unit Questions

Hi everyone,

I've been looking around at various units in the Bay Area and UCSF's cardiac unit looks interesting, since it looks like they take both cardiac and medical cardiac patients.

If anyone works there / worked there could you please share some information about the unit from a nursing perspective?

What is your primary patient population (medical vs. surgical, or good mix), how often do you see VADs, what's the daily case load, is the ICU run by a medical team or the surgical team, how is staffing / support, etc? Pretty much any info you have would be great.
