Hi everyone! I just finished applying and the assessment was brutal!

Something a little off topic but has anyone applied to Lucile Packard at Stanford??? Are their apps even up? I haven't seen any job postings about it and REALLY HOPE I didn't miss it!!!

My aunt (in-law) works at Lucile Packard and she's on the hiring panel for L&D. I've pestered her about when the application will open, and as an insider eager to hiring new talents, she too does not know when that will happen. She initially told me April or May (when I asked her back in Feb) since traditionally it has opened in April. I spoke with her last week when I found out Stanford's open--she said it could be any day and to keep checking DAILY! LP tends to have a policy where after a certain # (800 or so) apps automatically close.

When I applied and interviewed at stanford last year the newgrad position is med/surg level positions only. Also, if you fail that behavioral test you automatically get your application rejected and it slaves to LP as well, so don't fail :)

Zzbxdo, Thanks for the info... Sounds like you did well on the behavioral assessment before. I am sure nobody wants to "fail" it so do you have any tips? I have been hearing a number of things like, DONT mark "neutral" (which of course, I did because in my mind, it depends on the situation)... Then I heard, DONT pick "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree" or it makes you look too rigid. I was actually very honest with the assessment & wasn't trying to "game" the system... But a lot of the questions I answered as "neutral" because I thought it depended on the situation. Can you shed any light on it for me? What did you do? Did you have answers that were "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree"?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated... Esp since it seems employers are starting to go this route. Thanks. :)

I couldn't retake the assessment either. I wish I could have cause I don't have the stress of finals this time around. If I got rejected because of the assessment last time...then at least this is the one time I'll be expecting a rejection email. LOL! Fingers crossed? Sure...

Behavioral tests are a point system. Neutral answers give you NO points whatsoever. You actually want to be rigid for the most points, clearly yes you agree or don't. I would just google up how to take these tests. It's kind of annoying and I admit I threw in "mostly agree/disagree" answers in there just so I felt better about the test haha. But really, don't mark neutral. Yes, nursing is situational, but these tests are not written by nurses, they are written by dweebs behind a screen trying to troll you.

Thanks zzbxdo... Thats great info & I really appreciate it!! I will def google the topic. Do you think the answers on the poles of the Likert Scale ("strongly agree/strongly disagree") are BAD? Or did you find you selected those too? (Its the word "strongly" that kinda freaks me out-- it seems so narrow... But you are right-- its not nurses who make up the test! Haha.) :)

I applied to Stanford and thought that because I finished their assessment, I wouldn't have to do it again for LPCH. However when I applied to LPCH, I did have to do another assessment. I think it's the exact same assessment with the questions in a different order.

O had to do the same assessment twice. I thought it would count for both but no.

Thank you for the reply, knurse1212! After I submitted the LPCH application, the assessment window popped up but it said something like it wasn't active after a few minutes and if I wanted to go back to the assessment I should follow the link sent to me via email. But I never received such email, so I am confused. I thought that it there was a possibility that I didn't have to do it because I did it for Stanford and this why I never received an email with a link.
