Is anyone applying for spring 2012 at sac state? do you know what the cut off was for fall? how did you do on your teas V and how long did you spend time studying?

I am planning to apply for spring 2012. I am really scared. I need at least a 90 on the TEAS V but I have less then 2 weeks to study

Hey sacnurse- I think I just replied to you on another post but anyways, I'm also applying for spring 2012 at sac. They haven't posted any stats for this fall's applicants sadly. I got 91.3% on the TEAS, which I took last month. I was scared since I only got 80% on both online practice tests. I started studying about 2 weeks before I took it, and I only took it once. It can be done, so don't think it's beyond your reach! Maybe you've taken it by now, but let me know how it went if you want. I hope we both get in! The wait until late nov. is going to be killer, but hopefully it'll be worth it

Hi Nicole8584 I am taking my teas on Friday and I will let you know how i do. Good job, you got a really nice score! I am also aiming for above a 90%. I am having such a hard time studying because I am also taking my last A&P class so juggling between that and the teas is really hard. I actually called sac state today and they said that their cut-off point for fall 2011 was 58 points! So i am hoping we both get in
I would really appreciate it if you can give me a few tips on the teas. I have the manual and I have been studying from that endlessly. Is the test similar to the practice tests in the manual? How is the science section of the teas? People have been telling me that its nothing like the ati teas manual.

I would say it is pretty similar. I mean, the science questions won't be the same, and some of the concepts will be different for sure, but the problem is that the science section covers far more information than the others. Practice process of elimination for answers, since there will be several that are out of left field. Almost always you can get it down to 2 answers based on common sense and what you remember. Then just make your best educated guess, and if you have good gut instincts - go with that answer. Since you are taking A&P right now, that will be fresh in your mind which is good. Know your basic chemistry, and there might be a couple basic O chem questions too.
As far as the other sections, they are similar to the practice tests. It's helpful to read the rationals so you know how to think through the reading section and maybe out-smart it that way too. The language section and math are fairly straight forward, although a couple of the math ones threw me, but I probably wasn't used to it enough. The big thing about math is the time. Don't spend too long on any one question, but always mark your best guess in any case- you can always go back when you are done with the rest of the section and change it if you have time.
Are you good at taking multiple choice tests in general? I feel like that is half the battle. If it's not your strongest way to take a test, I'd say take as many practice tests as you can and read the rationals and try to tweak the way you tend to reason through answer choices.

Side note- If it makes you feel better about the ati study book, that is the only book I used to study, even though I had borrowed a couple others. I figured my best shot was to use the book written by the same company that makes the tests. Maybe don't worry too much about how good the study book was. The only reason you might want to get a hold of another company's would be to get more practice for the science section. And know mitosis and meiosis!

Thank you so much! It's great info! All I can do is try my best I will post my score once I have taken the exam.

Hey! So I took my TEAS this morning but I don't know my score yet because I took it at the PSI center and they take like 48 hours to post them on ATI. I really wish I took it at sac state. I don't know I have a feeling that the one at PSI may be a little harder. Reading was insane! I am really good in reading and English but they had the most random questions in that section. How did you think the reading was compared to the ati study manual? The science barely had any bio, it was a bunch of weird scientific research stuff. I hate waiting for results!

I know what you mean about the random questions :/ I felt crummy about it before I saw my score too, because I felt like I had to do a lot of educated guessing. But don't worry too much; you never know! I don't know that there's any difference in how hard it is at different places - they also adjust your score for form difficulty, so there is that. I'd be stressing waiting for my score too Taking it at Sac, you get your results instantly. I hope you get the score you want! Let me know when you find out

    Hi Nicole -

Where did you take your TEAS that you got your results immediately? at Sac State? If that's the case, I would take mine there on Jan/Feb so the I don;t have to go through a waiting period. Did you submit your application already?
