SoCal area - any hospitals that accept new grads?

U.S.A. California

I know the CA job market is terrible, but I'm going to try anyway. I'm not from the SoCal area, but I'm looking to apply for jobs in the area, either LA or SD. I'm fine with the smaller surrounding cities as well.

Does anyone know of any specific hospitals that accept new grads? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Most hospitals accept new grads, it's just a matter of how many and how frequently. Many have strong preferences for one particular local nursing program. I am one of probably 5 out of the last 100 new grads hired within my hospital system who did not graduate from one specific nursing school. I don't know of any from out of state. No one wants to put money into new grads who may leave within a couple years to go "home". I think that's a big part of why out of state new grads don't have a lot of luck.

Usually, hospitals put out openings for New Grad RN residency during the winter season for spring employment and summer for fall employment.

However, there are still hospitals who accepts new grads. You have to sort through the whole openings though. Look for words "preferred with experience", which simply means you can apply even if you don't have one.

I have to be honest though. It's a really competitive and tough market. If you know anyone in a particular hospital, that's probably your best way in. Look at smaller hospitals in the LA, OC, and SD areas as they are more lenient with their openings.

Good luck!
