So Cal RN schools! Moving from WA-please HELP!

Hello everyone, my hubby and I are moving to the Temecula-Palm Springs area from WA, in Sept and I want to apply to the colleges in the area. Does anyone know about Palomar, Mt San Jacinto, Riverside CC, College of the Desert and Mira Costa? I have looked at their websites and a lot of them for Spring 2011 are awarding admission based on a points system incorporating GPA, other classes, life experiences, etc. Does anyone know about the programs offered at these schools and the likeliness of getting in? I have a 3.8 GPA and scored a 83% on my TEAS...I have ALL my pre-req's done, along with extra point classes, such as Dev & Intro Psych, Sociology, Stats, Chem, etc. I just want to know my chances of getting in and if I am at a disadvantage because I will be coming from out of state. Thank you! It's pretty difficult to figure out this stuff when you are coming from another state and you don't know much about the area you are moving to. Thank you thank you! :)

Temecula and Palm springs are a good 80 something miles apart, so it'd really help to know where exactly you're moving to. Assuming you're moving to Temecula, Mt San Jacinto will be your closest school....next are palomar & RCC. College of the Desert is out by palm Springs. And Mira Costa is out by oceanside which is a little bit farther than palomar (only by about 10-15 minutes)

I know Palomar, and MSJC have strong programs, but do not know how competitive they are to get into. They've changed their admission policy recently and moved away from the lottery system to a merit-based system. I think your GPA is competitive, however your TEAS might be just average.

Mira Costa's RN program is brand new. They've just started their first cohort this spring, so it's hard to say how great the program actually is. I do have a friend of a friend in that program though, and he seems to enjoy it.

I don't think you'll be at a disadvantage by coming from another state, however keep in mind that you'll be paying a lot more since out-of-state tuition is something like $200 per unit (as opposed to $26) depending upon where you go.

I too am looking for schools in the same area and I'm coming from WA as well. Haven't moved to SD area yet but will be in the upcoming months, just waiting for my husband to get home from deployment (he's in the Marines). Anyways I heard the waiting lists are on a first come first serve basis at a lot of the comm colleges there...so I am looking towards a tech school.
