      I should I do if I don't get accepted?

I already applied for Nursing at SJSU for Fall 2012 and I am just waiting for the acceptance/nonacceptance now. I am beyond stress and worried that I might now get in because I am competing with so many smart applicants. I impaction is extremely low, its a 10.08, and usually the cut off are around 10.02-10.10, so I am basically at the cut off point. I am proud of my impaction score because I know that I did the BEST I could, but the problem is maybe my best isn't enough. I really want to focus on my current classes right now, but I find it extremely hard while I wait for my possible denied letter. I don't have an option B career, nursing has been the only thing I wanted to do ever since I was little, so if I don't get in, i'll be extremely disappointed and depressed. I contacted the nursing committee to ask them when they will be sending out the acceptance/denied letters, and they said they would be sending letters out the first week of May. Waiting is really tiring. I okay to wait if you know you have a high impaction score and have a high chance of getting in the nursing program, but if you have a low impaction score like me; in the range of being cut off, it's really nerve racking. I really hope someone understands what I am going through, because I it's really hard to express with words how I am feeling right now. Thank you guys. I appreciate any advices/input! What was the lowest impaction score that got into the nursing program your semester?

I already did the background check because I was so nervous about it being late and losing my spot. :o It does take a week but you don't have to mail anything in. You sign up for the check through an SJSU username so it seems that as long as you signed up and processed it (by paying) by the deadline you would be fine. I kind of wish I had called and asked first if they needed it completed or just processed.

By the way, 1waitingpatiently, have you decided yet where you'll be going? Just curious if we could possibly become classmates!

Oh okay. I think I will be choosing CSUEB. But I am not 100% yet. It's so hard to choose. I really dont want to pay for anything till I'm for sure.

It's totally understandable. I'm still undecided too. I've been leaning more toward SDSU, but they put more emphasis on health care experience so I don't know if I'll even get in. Don't stress too much, because wherever you go you'll be in a good program.

Don't stress you guys, just choose what you think is best.

highwaters, did you get any letter yet?

Well after a whole weekend of decision making, I've decided to go to CSUEB. So there's another spot available at SJSU :)

Thank you so much 1waitingpatiently! Even though if doesn't automatically mean that I will get in, but it gives me hope! Did you turn in the letter already? and I hope you didn't do didn't waste your money on the background check.

Biglaughter, no letter yet. On the pending letter, it said impaction cutoff is 10.34...so are you sure on your denial letter--what did it actually say re: cutoff being 10.2. And how do you know those on pending is right below 10.2. I am 10.167...and pending letter said "there are 8-9 in pending list"..and you said you are now #10. Are there two different lists?

yes, I believe there are two different list. A pending list and a rejection list. On my rejection letter said that the "initial" cutoff for the impaction score is a 10.20, so I guess the impaction cutoff was increase afterwards. I am not on the pending, but the rejection list, so that is why I have to wait for 10 people to drop so I can get in. Do you get what I am saying?

But if I am 10.167 and I got a pending letter, then.....I don't know if it goes by the same list. I am just trying to figure out if it is the same list...and what the chances of m$e getting bumped up..cuz if it is same list then I can gauge if you are #10, then I am like #5..does that make sense? When was your letter dated? If I am 10.167, it is below 10.2 as well..confused.

I think you are overstressed. As long as you get a pending letter, you are in a good position in getting accepted. I don't know exactly what spot you are in the pending list, but pretty sure you are up in the list. My letter is dated April 12. At least you are in a better position then me. You have a better than of getting in than me, do you understand. She even told me that it is unlikely that 10 people will drop, and told me to just apply again next semester. There is a part of me that is still clinging on to the last piece of hope that I will get in this semester.
