Sharp New Grad Program Summer 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

So like our predecessors I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread for all the new applicants for Sharp's summer 2013 new grad program. I just applied today and can't believe how nervous I am since I hit that submit button!! Good luck to all!!

Did anyone apply to the NICU position that was posted a couple weeks ago? Anyone get an interview?

Hey! I applied. Check out the "Sharp NICU New Grad" forum :)

Hey everyone,

First of all let me say how surprised I was that "DesperateRN" user name wasn't taken haha :). Secondly I will be applying to Sharp's new grad program in 2 days, and am kind of confused at their process.

1.Is the residency track offered at the different hospitals?

2. I see people posting on unit specific "residency" positions. I know there is the unit based track, and the residency track. For example, is it like "the residency track in adult health at Sharp Grossmont"?

3. And lastly, has anyone heard which is better to do? It's obviously all super duper competitive (yay!) but I'm curious which people have had success with.

Thanks guys!!

Applied this morning! Anyone else?

Welcome back CaliRN13! Hopefully this time one of us will get hired. I applied first thing this morning. What unit did you apply to?

Thanks Linds! I applied to the residency programs at memorial and grossmont.. One was med/surg I think and the other was PCU. How about you?

Thanks Linds! Fingers crossed for both of us! I applied to memorial and grossmont as my first & second choices.. One was a PCU & the other med/surg. Both were the regular residency track. I wanted NICU but I don't have my preceptorship in one so I wanted to play it safe this time around :/ What about you?

Ps sorry about the double post.. On my phone & having some glitches!

I wanted NICU too!! But also wanted to play it safe since I didn't have my preceptorship there. I also wanted L&D but haven't completed the Maternal course. It sucks that its so competitive. So I went for Grossmont PCU residency and Grossmont tele. I definitely don't want a career there, but thought it would be a good start to get into the hospital.

Now the fun waiting game begins again. I bet we don't even here till late November or December:/

But yes fingers crossed...I feel like I will be prepared for the interview this time and I now also have experience so hopefully it helps.

Yeah, it's definitely a starting point! Time to sit back and twiddle our thumbs while we wait... Yet again!

Did you interview with Sharp before?! The only place I've interviewed with was City of Hope for their CIS program (temporary thing that gives you am "internal" advantage to their new grad program). I had to turn it down though.

Since the last round of new grad openings in the Spring I've definitely beefed up my résumé, so hopefully I'll score an interview this time.... :/

No I never interviewed with sharp because I never knew about the cutoff rule thing. But I interviewed with scripps and didn't get it but I didn't have a very good interview so I knew I wouldn't get it. I have worked at sharp before so I'm hoping that helps and I know someone that's talking to one of the managers for me because I didn't go to school in Cali so think that's a disadvantage. I feel like I have a great resume so just hope if I get an interview I don't screw it up!!

Wow, good luck!!! I went to school out of state too.. Is that really a disadvantage even if it's a well-renowned nursing school? I'm going to be so bummed out if it is :(

I don't know how they consider out of state schools but it really shouldn't. Well I hope not. They should just look at credentials certifications experience and volunteer work. I know they have hired out of state people so hopefully our resumes shine!
