I wanted to start a thread on the Sharp New Grad Program in San Diego that opened for apps today. Best of luck to all that applied!

No, I haven't taken it yet. I just got my BSN in July and this is the first New Grad program I've applied to. I had no idea about that class until I applied. I contacted RPS and am hoping to hear from them soon and take the class ASAP! I'm just hoping that doesn't hurt my chances of getting in.

I know that class has been a requirement for Mary birch the last few application periods I think it was a requirment for all sharp L&D departments this time around.
Yeah, I thought it was a requirement too. I asked the recruiter specifically about it and she said that it is recommended but not a requirement at this time (at least for Grossmont). I hope she is right!
And thanks for the info on the class. Hopefully I can get in on the one in February then.

So did everyone who got a call back from Sharp for L&D take the RPS (Maternal Newborn Nursing Care class)? I am just curious. I didn't apply to L&D b/c I thought it was required. Anyone apply for NICU?

I applied for L&D at Sharp Grossmont and NICU at Mary Birch. I had a preceptorship at both places while in nursing school and took the RPS class this summer. Haven't gotten any calls yet!
I preceptored at sharp CV. Applied to L&D at grossmont and MB. I Took the RPS class. I got a call yesterday from recruiter to verify I took the class, they will then forward info to unit manager at MB who will make contact with those they are interested in hiring. Crossing fingers :-)
I hope it works out for you! Was she just contacting you for Mary Birch or for both Grossmont and Mary Birch? Why did you not apply at Sharp CV if you precepted there? It seems like you would have a good chance!
Totally understandable! I live in North County too! Mary Birch is AWESOME! I'm a volunteer there now as well...it is a great environment. I like the idea of starting my nursing career at a place I'm already familiar with! It is so hard to be patient, isn't it?!
