SFSU Fall 2012

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone!

Is anyone applying to San Francisco State's program for fall 2012? I haven't seen any threads on it... Just wondering since apps are due in a few weeks!

I received financial aid from SFSU as well, but still nothing from the University regarding acceptance.. does receiving the financial aid mean a good sign? :/

KLJ23 - I live in San Carlos and..yes, it's pretty expensive - we are about five minutes from Sequoia Hospital and 10 from Canada College but you could probably live in San Mateo for a little less with an additional 10 minute drive...further south to Mountain View would again be a little less expensive but a bit further of a drive. I'm going to assume we're going to be classmates :) so let me know if you need help finding housing!

I've received financial aid information as well as the shot request on the checklist - I was wait-listed last year and don't remember either of those things happening so I'm going to choose to see it as positive!

Mid april?! I could have sworn on the sfsu nursing website it said late march! ahhhhh so unfair

I like the sound of seeing it positive. Is there anybody who hasn't gotten the immunization proof requirement changed in their application?

I also applied to the sfsu/Canada nursing program 2012/2013. I'm a student at sfsu. My situation is a mixture of your experiences. I did not receive any request for my immunization but I have received a huge amount of financial aid for next year, which is unexpected because technically I'm graduating this semester and i don't know why they gave me so much. But I hope it's a good sign. I also dont have any updates to my admission status because I'm already a student. I'm so anxious to find out already so I can move on with my plans.

We are all going to do just fine! And if not this year, there is always next year! :clown:

Anyhow, it is out of our hands...all I can do right now is crochet my purple and gold scarf! We need to remain positive and supportive of each other. It is amazing when I have read past years posts. The range in GPA, experience, and fluency in other languages is varied.

We have all worked so hard, put in countless hours of studying, sacrificed so much to get to this very point. I am grateful to be in such fine company, and I really, really do wish everyone the very best of luck. I have two kids, and I have to say: the greatest gift they have received through this process, is seeing what really good studying looks like. My daughter is applying to university at the same time as I am---it is nuts at our house!

Yes, I would like to assume that as well Nugget74 :) Thanks for the info about housing.. so far I'm searching San Carlos and Redwood City on Craigslist. I'm looking up room share options, as well as apt and studios. I would like to stay close, if possible. I have family in San Jose, but the idea of a 30min commute, plus traffic, isn't encouraging.

I have also received the immunization requirements on the checklist!

Avill and dj_808- good to see more people for the sequoia/sfsu program. I am getting so anxious but super excited.

I was contemplating applying for the Canada Program however I realized that priority is given to those living/working in the San Mateo county. It would be nice to live in that area and go to school nearby.

I'm still so anxious and I keep checking my status online! I still haven't gotten anything about my Financial Aid... only that it's going to update in a week. SevenofNine I should get started on knitting but unfortunately Hunger Games Trilogy is taking up most of my time. :)

Hi Canada/Sequoia applicants,

I'm currently in the Canada/Sequoia program. I remember how nerve racking it was waiting to hear back from SFSU...not just for admission but throughout the summer, too. If you have specific questions you'd like answered, give me a shout.

Hi CharmantUn: Thanks for joining the thread- When did classes first start for you? Mid-August? Do you remember when orientation was? I'll be moving to Redwood City, if I get into the program- which means quitting my job, finding a place to live, etc., so I am very anxious to get as many details as possible to make my potential move as easy as possible.

Also, what are the fees for books, uniform, labs, etc. like? How should I budget for these expenses? Is tuition still around $300/unit? I think I read that on last years thread.

Thanks for your help. :) How do you liked the program so far?

Ah!!! The wait is killing me!!!

They said the end of March :(

Has anybody contacted their admissions office?

Hi Charmantun!

Thanks for offering information - like KLJ23 I am in the midst of trying to predict what my life will look like next year - I have two children so my question is more along the lines of schedule - what does an average week look like for you? Not necessarily the study part but the class attendance? How much control do you have over when your classes are?

Thanks for any information! :)
