  1. Thanks Lotus1972. I laughed when I saw the ad for UNI through indeed.com. It says "Hiring new grad RN's!" at the top of the ad. If you scroll down it says "Please do not apply if you do not have one year nursing exp". What??? I guess the definition of "new grad" is now equal to "must have 1 year experience". So what is a new grad called with no experience? I'm befuddled by this.
  2. Yes, thanks Lotus1972. How long did it take for you to get a call from them?

    I know, Right???
They Grab you with "HIRING NEW GRAD RN'S" and then you fall down to Earth in flames with the proverbial..." Please have one year of experience!!! Wha??? Chile', if I had 1 year of experience, I wouldn't be still beggin' for a job, now would I????
Boy, we get it bad on both ends
AH, WELL, I ACTUALLY spoke to someone concerning such verbage and the Representative told me about other opportunities that they had in store. She said that they needed NEW GRADS for work in Blood Banks!!! After looking at my checking account dwindle, I am thinking of taking the NCLEX BEFORE mid August. More on that in another post.
    Happy Hunting, Folks!!!

    Hello CR1026!!!
That's the Great thing about Alvarado, you can just APPLY
If you have your license, just apply to an opening on the site. With the exception of ICU,PICU, NICU, and Cardiac floors, you know that you need previous experience but on the Psych, Med/Surg, etc floors, just apply.Just keep an eye on "preferred"!!!
Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong; but I think that the info is good to go...

    Good Luck!!!

  7. Hey dienne, you're PM box is full! Just wanted to update you...I got the job! Thanks for all the tips and encouragement! You're great!
  8. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy for you. Will you be on the medical floor? I think you are going to like working there

For everyone else: just apply, Alvarado doesn't have a real new grad program but they do offer new grad classes and 8 week orientation. They are really new grad friendly. Their new advanced care unit is fully staffed with new grads, a little scary if you ask me but that's what they do.
I think they're going to have more openings in the next weeks because some people on my floor (me included) are leaving......so keep checking their website and good luck everyone!
