Scripps New Grad Nurse Residency 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Hello fellow new grads!

I'm starting this post to round up all the applicants for the 2013 cohort at Scripps in San Diego. I called HR today and they were rather tight-lipped about when the application would post, and was told "It will post in about 30-45 days" and to "keep checking the website". Enlightening, isn't it? Also to those who applied for the last round and will be re-applying, any tips you want to share for us newbies? thanks and I look forward to hearing from everyone that's just as stressed as I am.

Those of you who got offered positions, could you please share a little about your educational background (New grad, years of experience, approx GPA, CA resident, etc..)? Thank you!!!

I am a new grad (graduate in June from UCI so I have been out for about 6 months now), I have 0 experience (which I think you had to have less than 6 months for this program anyways) in any paid nursing position, though I did volunteer at a few places. My GPA in college was like a 3.7, umm yes I am a CA resident originally from San Diego as well. I had interviewed for 3 other new graduate positions and this is the only one I was offered a position for.

Did you apply this time around or thinking of applying next time? Hope this helps! Good luck :)

Has anyones background check clear yet? I haven't heard anything, thought it took 2-3 days.

Graduated Sept. 2012, licensed in Oct., 5 years of LVN experience, 3.71 GPA and yes CA resident.

Also, I have an ADN but currently in a BSN program.

I was just going to ask this too! I thought my check was going to be a piece of cake because I've lived in CA my whole life, never had a name change and zero criminal history. I'm feeling a little nervous that it is taking so long.... Wonder if they got a hold of my current managers ok.

Thanks for the information! I am from out of state so I'm not sure if that will hurt my chances. I'm going to graduate in May, so I will apply for the next round. What unit did you precept on (I'm trying to decide where to precept)? & What unit will you be working on?

It seems like we're all in the same boat. It just makes me nervous because they've been good about communicating with us, but there's been nothing for quite a while...

I precepted in a pediatric oncology unit at CHOC (both preceptorship and leadership) and then also in a surgical unit at Orange Coast Memorial.

According to the on boarding system, I think we get an email that confirms our background check is cleared and our Employment Specialist will call us to make an appointment.

Hey everyone, did anyone else receive an Employee Referral Program e-mail from Scripps? It makes me sound like I'm already an employee when I haven't heard anything recently about my alternate status. Just wondering cause it's confusing me.
