San Joaquin Delta College Fall 2013

U.S.A. California

I don't think there is a thread started yet. Who's applying?

I got my Email too! This is going to be a horrible wait! lol. But another step closer!

April 5th will be here before you know it!

I'm handing in my application on February 25th... I'm still nervous that they will not count my A in A&PI (because of my C in Anatomy at Delta), but we'll see what they say about the course descriptions... It's a combo class so I feel like it has to count for something!

@shye I hope they give you the highest out of them, but i think it would depend on the one you used on your application. they wont go over and beyond verifying things you didn't include on your application, i would think. im nervous about a few things now too. First, where we list our previous colleges, one of mine was carrington college. where it asks if it is a semester/quarter program, i listed it as quarter year, and now looking back at my delta evaluation of the transcrips, it is actually a semester program. I really hope that won't pose a problem. Also, the "All" prereq thing for the need to work.....im needing to get some type of letterhead from a fast food place i worked at over 10 years ago. ugh.....seems impossible. Will keep trying though, do you think i need to call the nursing department to ask them about mistakingly listing my previous school as "quarter"

I would definitely ask... I hope they view it as a typo? I'm not sure how important it is... How many prerequisites did you take there?

As for me, I've hit a snag with verifying my 1,000+ hours patient care experience... It was with the county so I assumed it would be easy to get total hours but no...

Ok Shye, I have spent all day gathering & requesting documentation. Everything seems to be coming together, all my employment verifications for :need to work" etc. The only thing I have not been able to get is employment verification from 2002. i worked at quizno's in sacramento in 2002 while taking nutrition at American river College. That restaurant is no longer in business at that location, and i can't reach anyone at corporate. I contacted franchise tax board to get a copy of my tax return for that year and they dont have my records from before 2005. and neither does h&r block. :sour:aaaahhh. lol...i dont know what to do. do you have any suggestions? thought it couldn't hurt to ask

Do you happen to have bank statements from 2002 showing direct deposit or a quiznos check number? Maybe its a long shot but I'm kind of in the same boat but thankfully I downloaded all my bank statements before I switched banks last year!

Hey everyone,

I was accepted into Spring 2013, and am currently in my first semester!!!! I always used allnurses, and it was so awesome when current students would come on and give me an idea of what to expect. Just to let you know, when I had submitted my documentation, I was told that all you need for proof of employment during pre reqs was at some point during pre reqs. there was no need to submit anything covering the totality of your pre reqs. If you have above a 62, i would bet that you'll be accepted. delta doesn't send you your score, but using your grades and the paper with the scores (downloadable from the ADN Site) you can figure it out easily. about 61 or 62 seemed to be the bottom, including alts with our semester, even with only 40 students accepted which was TERRIFYING for me!!! If you all have any questions feel free to post. I was back and forth with HS due to complications with my app many many times, plus i was always so scared to mess something up i would call all the time just in case to ask questions.... so they answered a lot of questions for me, so I may be able to answer some for you!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!

wow full of faith, thank you so much for taking the time to give us that info. Thats exactly where i am right now, gathering all my documents to submit. You're right, it is pretty terrifying because you want to be very thorough so that you don't get disqualified for a simple error. As far as i can tell so far, I have been able to gather all the necessary documents with the exception of 2 problems with my app. Maybe I can describe them to you and you might be able to give me some insight?

1st problem) Under the application where you list previous colleges attended I listed my 2 previous colleges & delta. One of my schools was Carrington college where I earned a AS degree. where it asks you if the school is semester/quarter/etc i listed it as a quarter system because we had our classes in either 6 or 10 week units. But, now looking back at a previous evaluation of my transcript from delta, they listed it as semester. I called HS to ask if this could pose a problem and the lady i spoke to said she could not answer that. Its a simple error, but I guess there's nothing i can do about it now!!

2nd problem) verifying work history. i had a total of 4 jobs throughout the span of completing prereqs. I know you said you don't have to verify for all prereqs, however, it has been a point of discussion earlier in this thread and I believe Delta changed the wording of that criteria this year, and it now says working while taking 'ALL" prerequisites (just like that in capital letters on the criteria sheet). i have obtained verification for 3 of the 4 jobs I held, the only one i cannot verify is from a fast food chain from 2002, (i was taking nutrition at age 17). its no longer in business and i cannot prove it. I spoke with HS, and she said to include a letter from myself explaining it. i am going to also try to get a copy of my tax return to prove it, and include a letter from myself as well. What do you think??

thanks for any input, and thanks again for taking the time!

PS, how do you like the program so far??

I, for one, think it is ridiculous to ask for documentation of having a job for ALL prerequisites... I really hope you get those points since you are putting so much effort in!

well my worst fear is that they disqualify me....id rather them take off those points if thats what it came down to. I think I'm just over worrying. I'm known for that. ;) But then again i feel like you can never be too careful or too thorough. Hows your stuff going?

Oh I am with you - my main concern wasn't the points, it was being dq'd!

I just heard from San Joaquin County today and they were able to find my total number of hours (1,560). They are sending me a letter... Everything else is ready to go!

Is the Quiznos thing your only obstacle?

I was planning to turn my application in next Monday but I am waiting until March 1st...

so i was just as terrified... imagining them in some warrior military suits with a big DENIED stamp on any app that forgot to put a comma or something lol... they're all actually really nice and helpful, and to be honest they're not toooo crazy about that stuff. submitting a letter with the circumstance ESPECIALLY with your tax return that says you were working sounds like you're in the clear. tax returns don't lie!!! im not HS but i think you'll be fine. they weren't as terrible as imagined lol they understand things happen like that
