Saddleback Nursing School, Spring 2013

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi all!

I am a pre-nursing student getting ready to put in my applications for Spring 2013. I was wondering if anyone might be able to give me a general idea of what Saddleback College's Nursing program is like? I really would like to get a sense of what the curriculum will be like, how much time might be devoted to studying outside of class, the amount of hours spent in clinicals, etc. Of course everyone's experience is different, but if I could get some perspective as to what I may be facing in the next few years I think I would be better prepared to tackle the challenge. I have a preschool-age son now, and by Spring 2013 I will have a baby daughter as well, so I would like to wrap my head around what my school commitment will look like and plan in advance for the amount/type of help I will need for my family. Thanks for your time in advance!

I got in!! Holy crap, now I don't know what to do... because if I don't work, I can't pay for things, you know? LOL I don't qualify for any student aid (previous degrees) so I'm just all confused now what to do. I want to be super happy, but I'm so nervous/scared too- how do I make it financially? I guess I have some thinking to do!

Hi, I just joined Allnurses. I was looking at this forum for some advice on Saddleback and RCC.

I applied to Saddleback and RCC, and got in to Saddleback, and am very confident that I will get in to RCC. I know Saddleback is a great school, but I live in Riverside and was wondering what you or anyone else would do if they had a choice (moving is not an option for me).

Any advice?

Thanks!

Awe very neat. When you apply next year out that you are in progress that may help too when your in the nursing concepts class :) keep your head up. I work full time and have been since I started my pre Reqs . I'm scared of quitting and not having any $$

Maybe see if you can work a night shift? My friend is in a program at a different school and works night shift at a hospital.

Cathering, it's good that your so positive. Thank you. Are you waiting to get into a program as well?

Thanks!! With some supernatural help from above I got in for spring 13 at saddleback! But it was no easy journey, I applied to 10+ straight to BSN programs but got denied all because I repeated statistics twice and got an a on third try. So I will have to do ADN > BSN.

Random question, do any of you know any ADn to BSN programs that allow me to "co-enroll" for BSN while I'm still working on my ADN at saddleback?? Thank you in advance!

Good luck to all!

Co-enroll in nursing classes? I don't think you can do that because the BSN classes has prerequisites of classes that you do in the ADN program, plus ADN-BSN application requirements usually include an RN license.

I know, it can be quite challenging trying to get into a nursing program, yet alone getting into all the pre-req bio's without petitioning. One time I was petitioning for 2 weeks straight until I finally got my physio class at golden west. Now that my pre-reqs are done, I am anxiously waiting to see if they call me (cuz I'm in the first pool if the 60 or some alternates decline acceptance). Does anyone know an estimate of how long it can take for nursing dept to call if they have an opening? I guess it depends. I wonder up until what date they will add more people from the alt list or first pool. I know there are deadlines for paperwork, background checks, etc. I assuming that I should wait until maybe begining January?

Saddleback is going to be offering a bsn bridge I believe. Not sure if it will be starting in the spring or not. I got in for next semester also :) I'm super nervous tho. Anyone have any advice for those who got in?

Hi, this is awesome if this is true!!!! Where did u hear this? Any idea when it'll go in effect?

Hi I heard this in my nursing concepts class. My teacher is one of the nursing teachers and she said they are joining up with bsn colleges and are going to start offering additional classes to receive a bsn from ex. Concordia. Just not sure if it will take effect this coming semester or will be offered next fall ill ask my teacher because I forgot. Congrats on getting in :)
